@luxemiaa I kept my married name after divorce because I wanted it the same as my kids for as long as I could, I didn’t want to go through the hassle of changing it, I’d had it longer than my maiden name and I liked it better. It was my choice

After 12 years of marriage, I divorced my husband and thought that would be the end of our paperwork together. Apparently not. He has since remarried and is now insisting that I drop his last name. The problem is that I’ve had this name for over a decade. It’s on my degrees, professional licenses, bank accounts, passport, and basically every document that proves I exist. So now this man wants me to spend months standing in government offices, filling out forms, updating records, and explaining to every institution I’ve ever dealt with that I’m suddenly a different person. All because he is uncomfortable seeing his last name attached to me. Sir, that sounds like a personal issue. Unless a court order specifically requires you to change your name, this is entirely your choice. And if.......

You saw my resume. The panel saw my resume before scheduling the interview. Why make me put on dress slacks, do my makeup, fix my hair, sit in Atlanta traffic at 3pm, waste gas, and spend an hour defending why I wanted the position? If I didn’t want the job, I wouldn’t have applied! Companies really need to stop wasting people’s time and energy. Zoom or Google Meet me or leave me alone.

Last week I interviewed for a position I was fully qualified for. Honestly, overqualified for. Didn’t care because I really wanted to work for the company. Made it to a 3 person panel interview. It’s going great. I’m confident, answering everything well, good energy all around. Interview lasts an hour. At the very end, the guy says everybody starts at the same level, I’d need to stay in the role at least two years, but I could “write my own path.” Ok, cool. Sign me up.

Tell me what you would’ve done… At 10:54 PM my doorbell rings. Mind you; my toddler is sick, finally asleep, and I’m in bed. So I’m already annoyed. I check the camera and it’s a young woman with a baby strapped to her chest. By the time I get to the door, she’s walking away. I ask if she’s okay and she comes RUNNING back frantic. She tells me she’s in a domestic violence situation and needs a ride18 minutes away. Now I’m standing there in a bonnet, pjs, house shoes (it’s 40° outside)

It finally happened. My husband called me at work, clearly frustrated, saying he couldn’t find the black pepper. I told him exactly where it should be, but of course he insisted it wasn’t there. You could hear the irritation building like this missing spice was a personal attack. So I said, “Fine, FaceTime me.” He holds up the phone to the pantry, kind of waving it around like he’s proving a point. I tell him to stop moving for two seconds and just hold it still. I look at the screen… scan once… “There. Top shelf. Right side. Next to the salt.” Two seconds. That’s all it took. From a zoomed-out phone camera showing the entire pantry, I found it instantly.
