@RoversPundit I think if you started him 6 games in a row however they went you’d have some returns at the end. He always looks threatening on the ball- just offers nothing without it.

@reluctantnicko Have we not just received 18m for Wharton, 4m+ for Raya, 3m extra for sky games next season, 1m for telavic and whalsted and extra income from tickets and cup games last season??? Venkys needed to fund an extra 400k a month to help us which is 4.8m a season? Doesn’t add up?

I know it doesn’t make sense to park a good player in reserves- but selling young talent for value is only way we survive

For a club based on growing talents to survive- letting them go for free repeatedly will kill the club. Letting Dolan have a decent season, pad out his next contract elsewhere will not encourage others to sign deals

We don't know what he's been offered or what he wants. Far too easy to sit there & say sign or gtfo.

@reluctantnicko I think most Rovers fans would rather buy a 1.9m striker instead of a 2m striker and double the women’s budget. Community club- and really not an important sum of money in championship context.

@aljwhite @ThinksInsight The Lib Dem campaign strategy in Wokingham has been bleak. Their carpet bomb post and leaflet campaign has annoyed more people than converted- literally >1 per day. Have they not read any marketing research? They had my vote before they sent anything- now prob vote Labour

@StevenDonovan02 @reluctantnicko Wharton gets the ball from defence, turns around and plays forward as much as is realistic. Sounds simple- but really isn’t, as we’ve seen from the lack of it in the group stage.

In the future, we’re going to look back at Euro 2024, and England’s major issues in the tournament, and Gareth Southgate’s decision not to give Adam Wharton a single minute in the group stage will look even more ridiculous than it already does.

@IanRatcliffe21 I agree there’s a fear- but I don’t agree with the idea that it’s the fans/media who cause or can fix it. There are lots of teams in various sports who achieve success and play to their abilities under equal or more pressure. Indian cricket team probably the best example.

This is spot on. It’s not the only problem but the whole team are petrified of making a mistake.
A fear of failure will severely limit your success in any professional setting.

Because they are scared, nobody wants to be the player that gets abused on social media or the one blamed for failure. You have seen through the years what happens to the scapegoats Fear takes risk away, which takes confidence away, which makes the team easy to defend against and lacking in creativity This has been going on for decades. The closer success is likely (or the more is demanded), the more that pressure you all put the team under to win (as if there was a divine right for England to win) makes fear prominent No other national team gets this (toxic?) pressured to win, I don't think

@LiamOBrienOver2 @BrittainSeason @TheSecretScout_ Agree. From a Blackburn perspective I’d look at Ash Phillips and Adam Wharton. Both highly rated. Phillips went to Spurs, played zero times then had short low value loan. Wharton played 30 times for Rovers, then straight to prem and now England. See where Phillips gets to in time
