@bettingonly335 It doesn’t matter who’s on the roster next year if the coaching staff stays the same. We’ll see the same thing we’ve seen for 5 years

The worst thing Roy Williams ever did at UNC was the last thing he ever did at UNC. Hand-picking Davis for arguably the best job in college hoops has set this program back years. It’s been a painful run, and it needs to end now. Hire outside the UNC family. #firehubertdavis

A rookie tackle starting for the first time in the NFL is the almost exactly the same as a a second year tackle starting for the first time in the NFL. Idk why it’s widely accepted that sitting on the bench means there is going to be less or no hiccups
Slick Wick@dacornerman

Depending on a Rookie Tackle to be a full time starter in our Super Bowl window is almost malpractice in itself … almost as if right now is the perfect opportunity to groom one w/o risking them being a liability… but only for the right one ofc

I’ve stayed quiet too long. Zach is correct. Yall need to stop worrying about backups when our Super Bowl window just opened. The first round should be for immediate impact players with the holes we have not backups who may play next year or in 2 years
zach@stop_n_look

Offensive Tackle at 19 crowd, I have a question; What is there to be gained by drafting a player that in theory won’t play much this year, over a player that will provide instant impact?

You say the next class is better but a lot can happen and always does. I don't it "has" to be done, but let me give you an example: The Jaguars traded for Branden Albert in 2017. He abruptly retired (you substitute this example with potential injury risk if you'd like) midway through camp, but they luckily selected Cam Robinson at No. 34 and was their LT on an AFC Championship runner-up team. Again, they don't need to do anything in the first round. I'd also argue force fitting anyone into a starting role, when this draft isn't considered particularly good, isn't necessarily the greatest outlook either. They have plenty of cards to play.

I agree. With everything you said. But there’s a sentiment that it has to be done this seasons when it doesn’t. They can take an impact player that will actually start at 19 to push them further into contention and draft a OT to replace any of the guys that may or may not be here in the 27 class which is better that his one. Theres a worry about getting cheaper and replacing aging players like this is the only opportunity to do it

Eh, I think this take is a little shortsighted without complete knowledge of Walker and Ekwonu’s collective outlooks (which only Carolina has). Walker is making Yosh Nijman money from 2024, essentially. If you find a tackle who can be better long-term and potentially beat him out in camp, there’s cost logic at a premium position. Just my two cents, though I don’t think any position is a “must” in the first three rounds tbh. They have a ton of flexibility.

@cats_cardiac If you’re in the playoffs you are playing to win the superbowl. Last year if a patriots fan told you the superbowl window was open everybody would’ve laughed. But who was in the superbowl?

@thaRBW I gotcha, think my definition of a SB 🪟 is a bit different. Think they’re in playoff window. To me SB 🪟 is - we’re one of the 5-6 best teams and we can win 🏆 in next 2-3 years. Go and make a trade for AJ Brown, DJ Moore, etc, push all chips in.

There’s really no deference other than 1 not playing for a year imo. A first time starter is a first time starter whether they was in the nfl the year before or college. If you’ve never played in the nfl you still never played in the nfl no matter where you was before the year before 🤷🏾‍♂️

@thaRBW Definitely could be fair but then there’s the worry about having to start that tackle day 1 vs a year to sit. Not saying either way is right or wrong but I def can see why people want tackle at 19.

@cats_cardiac teams coming off a division title, had a gm that’s aggressive and willing to spend big on FA and the draft, and a QB on a rookie deal. Thats the exact thing that happen when a team is ready to compete to win a superbowl

@Reeves_Colton1 The only problem with that thought process is that it doesn’t factor in that you can take a tackle next year and it does the exact same thing. In a much better tackle class

@thaRBW I’m not pounding the table for a Tackle at 19, but if they view one highly and think he can be good I think it makes a lot of sense. Bryce is about to get paid so we have to get cheaper on the OL.
