Grateful beyond words for the incredible support and guidance I received from my PhD mentor @whitefishlab and previous mentors @Armstrong_dfci @thali_lab among many others in helping me secure the F31 award! So excited to continue my research journey with this funding.

It's always nice when someone smart, creative and kind gets good news - congrats to @SarahPerlee for her F31 award from the @theNCI! Despite a pandemic, a lab move and project evolution, she stuck with it all the way. She's an amazing geneticist who truly deserves this!

Tight uropod-to-uropod contact between two isolated syncytia. Could one of them have fusion-replenished surface CD4? (~25% of syncytia have surface CD4!) ...is this a VS? from @msymeonides, also independently observed by our grad student Emily Whitaker!

Immunomagnetically-isolated HIV-induced T cell syncytia, an assay 15 months in the making and nearly ready for prime time! Isolation made possible by surface-expressed split-GFP in donors/targets and a whole-GFP-specific nanobody @ChromoTekGmbH @STEMCELLTech. by @msymeonides

I’m happy to share this work on how cell fusion promote a cell differentiated state through plasma membrane remodeling and changes in bioenergetics. “Transcriptional reprogramming in fused cells is triggered by plasma-membrane diminution biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Our EWI-2 preprint is now on its 4th version on @biorxivpreprint - lots of new data (and authors!) added, and currently under peer review. The new Figure 6 is a great teaser of the direction we're now headed... HIV-induced syncytia are pretty special! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
