A dead daughter-in-law deserves dignity, not public humiliation by those who failed to protect her. We hear moral policing, psychiatric labels, and character assassination from her in-laws. Not doing puja ,fasting, or watering plants is not evidence of mental illness or moral failure.This is cruelty wrapped in patriarchy.

The way Giribala singh is dehumanizing Twisha by telling that she didn’t water the plants, she didn’t want a child & her character assassination by saying she took drugs, is exactly telling of the patriarchy in everyday life. Imagine what she must have endured when she was alive

I was so horrified by the 'press confereence' of Giribala Singh, former Judge & mother in law of Twisha Shama- now an accused in a dowry death case, that i had to interview her and confront her with some direct questions 1. Where is her son? as an officer of the law- and her son is a lawyer - why is he absconding and will she urge him to surrender or is she hiding him? 2. Did she and her son taunt Twisha about carrying another man's baby? 3. How can she place in public domain the alleged assessment by Twisha's doctors of her mental health when that is strictly confidential between a doctor and patient? 4. Who is she to call Twisha's decision on abortion an act of cruelty - abortion is legal in India and its ultimately a woman's body and her choice within the framework of law 5. How can she conflate prescription medicines with drugs ? Where is her evidence on drug usage ? and how does she respond to the charge by Twisha's family that her husband was the drug addict 6. How can she as a woman and a judge indulge in the worst sort of character assassination of a young woman who is not even alive to defend herself against the smear 7. . Finally, detailed Whatsapp conversations show the living hell that Was Twisha's life. How does she respond to the allegations of dowry and harassment? Blaming women by calling them “mentally ill” is nothing new. In-laws have used this narrative for years to deflect accountability. As a retired judge, she should have said something new instead of repeating the same script.

This is truly terrible. Twisha a lovely young woman who was Miss Pune, a model, and a Marketing Manager. Twisha got married a year ago to Samarth Singh, a criminal lawyer from Bhopal. Her mothern in law is the retired Judge Giribala Singh. Everything went smoothly for the first few days after the wedding, but gradually, Twisha's in laws began to harass her And then, one day, Twisha's in laws called her family to inform them that Twisha had committed suicide. Twisha's family members refused to perform the last rites and demanded a post-mortem report. The family categorically stated that Twisha could not have committed suicide she was murdered. The investigation revealed that there were multiple injury marks on Twisha's body.She suffered a miscarriage two months ago.
