Chelsea are behind Liam Rosenior and sympathise that he has come into a situation where the squad is said to be ‘knackered’ and has not had appropriate time to implement his ideas.
Summer target lists are underway with all eventualities being considered, as Chelsea feel UCL qualification will likely come down to fine margins in May.
There is no current suggestion that the model will be changed. Chelsea also feel that contract statues with many current stars wanting more money is further proof that it would not be wise to chase signings that would be looking for a high base salary.
The club want players to be together as a team and earn their money. There is not an appetite to create an entitled and unhealthy culture and the cost to risk ratio is high.
Directors are working within the financial restrictions and the model put in place by Behdad Egbhali.
There may be an odd exception but generally this is what I’m told. The club are open to spending high transfer fee’s but not salaries straight away.

I’ll leave it on this for tonight, Enzo Maresca tried to cover the squad’s deficiencies with how we defended, the tempo/control, our build up ideas etc
Rosenior is showing trust in the group and sticking to his ideas, but it puts much more responsibility on EACH AND EVERY individual and it’s clear that not each and every individual is ready to carry that load
We’re in limbo… stability is needed whether it’s the manager or a core group of EXPERIENCED & QUALITY players (as we did when we used to chop and change managers under Roman) ~ you CAN’T have neither

You tell some Chelsea fans to forget about sacking the manager and focus on the main issue, they will insult you.
Then when the manager is gone and the problem gets worse, you remind them, they will insult you even more.
A coach isn't the a-z in football. The earlier people realise that the better. Let me use this analogy. If you take a regular car to the F1 race track and give it to the best F1 driver ever, can he compete with the worse F1 driver who is driving a F1 car? No.
Coaches are like drivers. They need their cars built to suit their purpose. They can't perform magic when you give them bad cars or cars that aren't built for their purpose.

The CAF Appeal Board decided that in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 (“the Match”), with the result of the Match being recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).

The biggest problem at this club is the recruitment that is the chuckle twins in charge of it.
I’ve always maintained that no manager can truly fix this squad when it’s been built poorly.
I’m also someone who believes managers deserve time.
But in this case, the second biggest problem at this club is Rosenior and he doesn’t deserve that time.
Why? Because he’s naive. He’s not ready.
Yes, players made mistakes under Maresca too, and I blamed them then as well. The difference is that Maresca minimized those mistakes. Rosenior, on the other hand, exposes the squad’s weaknesses every single game.
Nothing at this club is black and white, there isn’t just one issue. There are multiple, and it’s about identifying which ones matter most. Right now, Rosenior is one of them.
Unfortunately, this aligns with what I said when he was appointed that I didn’t have faith in him. I would’ve taken him in a year or two, not now. And that concern has unfortunately proven justified.
Maresca understood this squad. He overperformed with it. His OOP structure, especially in big games, was the best this group could offer. We had the third best defence in the league and even beat PSG in the CWC final- a stronger PSG than the one that just toyed with us.
Even when results didn’t always follow against the big teams, there was clear structure and intent, both on and off the ball. That’s missing now.
And this isn’t just about losing to PSG. I’ve assessed Rosenior game by game and credited him where due, criticized him where necessary.
But the pattern is clear: too many bold, immature, and naive decisions.
Our defensive structure is poor, including in both PSG games. He pushes an already weak defence into an overly aggressive high press, exposing them further. His goalkeeper decisions have damaged the confidence of both Sanchez who was one of our best players this season and Jorgensen.
Both Maresca and Rosenior learned on the job. The difference is that Maresca wasn’t naive. He restricted attacking freedom because he understood the trade off, this team isn’t equipped to handle transitions. Yet he still made us one of the best pressing sides in Europe despite average physicality. He protected the players from their weaknesses. Rosenior exposes them daily.
The best course of action is to let him see out the season as an interim and then appoint someone more experienced along with firing the chuckle twins. I’m not someone who calls for hiring and firing lightly but this simply isn’t Rosenior’s time. And by “experienced,” I don’t mean someone like Gary O’Neil.
Trust me, it takes a lot to make me turn on a manager this quickly. This is not impulsive.

This happens because players are encouraged to take risks with the passes and movements.
We used to say that Maresca was slow and passive. This is why. To avoid unnecessary turnover in midfield and get caught.
Our poor counter-press was the main problem with this. If you look at the running stats or distance covered in the Premier League, we are usually below top 10.
The intensity of our game is very inconsistent and it's down to the type of players we have. Maresca was actually very economical about how he set us to play. But he was criticised heavily for it.

We are so weak and open in transition when we lose the ball.
