@mrallanmaths y-b=m(x-a)... all just a transformation of the line y=x. The m changes the gradient while a and b translate it from going through (0,0) to going through any point of your choosing (a,b). b is the vertical shift so goes with the y and a shifts horizontally so goes with the x...?

@mrshawthorne7 Slightly off topic (apologies) but how do people keep them clean? After a couple of terms we can't get them clean enough to use. Really puts staff off.

@Whitehughes @ShakinthatChalk I like that each line is the easiest way of visualising all the possible x,y pairs of solutions to those equations, and that the intersection is the single pair of values which are solutions to both.

@thatmathsshow Happy to help. The trick is getting the centre of the pivot point right. The one in the photo is too far forward and stops the lid from getting to 90 degrees. Happy to share the CAD work if it'll help.

Putting together some examples of laser cut hinges for Cashmere High students and discovered my little #emblaser2 cutter will happily go through 3mm MDF.
