we cannot ascribe the entire spike in us roadway fatalities to tesla’s full self driving and autopilot features, but, by the same token, we cannot ascribe nothing. automation surveillance fatigue, low camera fidelity, lack of weather mitigations, insufficient compute, and operational design domains beyond the capability of the system are known issues. the only question is whether those issues are rare or common.
