I’ve run very large IT orgs with major SLAs, multi-billion dollar companies, and there have been many late nights. Never once has a rockstar stayed up late without me. I setup a conference room full of coffee, soda, pizzas, chips, waters and monster energy drinks. I then rolled up my sleeves as well. Anyone who pulled a very late night got a late start or a day off, depending on the hours involved. It’s common sense, tired engineers make mistakes. Empathy alone should drive that if nothing else. You don’t treat your people like that, ever. Whoever pulled that crap would be exited immediately.
