I’ll add my amen to this and say that for those of us outside the US, the term evangelical still holds great meaning. I love the way it is in Arabic. We say إنجيلي (en-jeelee) - which directly translates as one “of the gospel”
Timothy Keller (1950-2023)@timkellernyc

“Why not just get rid of the word evangelical and call yourselves something else?” Because most evangelicals are in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and like the word evangelical just fine. North Americans aren’t entitled to choose what we’re called. Read more here:

Encouraging @TGC article by a former church planting resident at Redeemer Church of Dubai. Marwan Aboul-Zelof @theUrbanArab is the lead pastor of City Bible Church in Beirut. Please read and pray for Lebanon and all of us here in the Middle East region. thegospelcoalition.org/article/scars-…

When Beirut was bombed, this pastor could’ve left, but he stayed. Staying was no accident. It was rooted in hope in the gospel that is better than life. Now, his city faces war again and again he’s staying. He says there’s kingdom fruit in staying. thegospelcoalition.org/article/scars-…

If at church tomorrow your pastor prays for the “peace of Jerusalem” but says nothing of: - peace in the region - Arab/Persian churches and believers - faithfulness and perseverance of local churches - the spread of the gospel Encourage him to pray more broadly—and biblically.

Lots of talk about human shields these days. It called to memory where I first ever heard about Pals using human shields (kids specifically)— During a sermon at church some 25yrs ago. Even when pastors go “chapter by chapter, verse by verse” they can lead their people astray.

I don’t know what language to speak or what words to use. How does one continue to describe a reality that is so clear to see? How much evidence needs to be presented for someone to pause for a moment and consider if they’ve missed something?

The IDF appears to believe that blowing up a Lebanese village is good Strategic Communication Mahbib in southern Lebanon must have been cleared first, wired up with explosives and then blown up, i.e. at this point it ceased to be a legitimate military target

Israeli NGOs warn international community it will be complicit if Israel forcibly transfers the population of Northern Gaza Human rights NGOs based in Israel today called on the international community to take action now to prevent Israel from forcibly transferring hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have remained in the Northern Gaza Strip outside of the area, including by denying entry of essential humanitarian aid and fuel. The Israeli ceasefire coalition, the groups Gisha, B’Tselem, PHR-I and Yesh Din, said that there are alarming signs that the Israeli military is beginning to quietly implement the Generals’ Plan, also referred to as the Eiland Plan, which calls for complete forcible transfer of the civilians of the northern Gaza Strip through tightening the siege on the area and starving the population. The NGOs reiterated the warning that states have an obligation to prevent the crimes of starvation and forcible transfer, and that if the continuation of the “wait and see” approach will enable Israel to liquidate northern Gaza, they will be complicit. All states and relevant international institutions should act now and use all tools at their disposal - legal, diplomatic and economic - to prevent this.

10,000 UN troops on the Lebanon 🇱🇧 border, from 50 countries, led by Ireland 🇮🇪 under threat from Israel 🇮🇱 to leave their posts. They are refusing to go anywhere. Their role is one of peace and they are sticking to it. On the side of humanity.

Planes overhead. Drones buzzing constantly. Sounds of missiles through the air. Near explosions. Distant explosions. This has been Beirut’s reality for the past two weeks in the day & through the night. This cannot go on. But will it? Lord, have mercy. Lord, judge the wicked.

What a ridiculous man! This is the face of the US government. How do the American people stand-by & watch their country suffer while billions of dollars are sent away? For how long will they allow their politicians (Rep & Dem) be more concerned w/another country than their own?

NEW: Lindsey Graham said that he prefers to help Israel instead to the hurricane victims in South Carolina: "I've been going all over South Carolina, like most people I haven't slept much. But look what's going on in Israel. We have to help our friends to keep the war over there from coming here."

@RebeccaElias8 By God’s grace they are mostly unaffected. Sounds are distant enough at this point where it’s not too disruptive, and they don’t have a category of what could happen (as they have not seen images, videos, etc of the destruction and death)
