The Many-Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics helps us towards an overall evaluation of existence. I consider some recent work in philosophy of religion on the quantum multiverse and the Problem of Evil, as well as Olaf Stapledon’s Starmaker. lesswrong.com/s/RTJH6fcX36oh…

I think he should buy Greenland and rename it to "Trumpland" because staying on a higher-probability timeline can only be bad for us at this point

@RichardMCNgo Great point, though obviously a lot harder to measure social capital %, which may be why people gravitate towards money as a kind of life scorecard.

I feel confused about whether social capital or financial capital will be more important after AGI (or even what that question means) but it seems like it’s much easier to accrue X% of the world’s social capital than X% of the world’s financial capital.

These are dark times -- an old world order crumbles, a new one dawns, with the increasingly deranged masters @elonmusk and @realDonaldTrump on top. At this moment, the dangerous path of AI development is ironically also our best hope for democracy, reason, and postcapitalism.

@ESYudkowsky Is rationality sometimes woo? (if promoted by over-enthusiastic rationalists)

A reason your woo is considered "woo", and not just a worth-trying trick whose mileage varies, is that your theology says your woo reflects a universal truth and must work for everyone who isn't committing some weird sin. And in reality, it does not fucking work for everyone.

Depth is the ability to see and sense the deep mystery of phenomenal reality, to recognize the sublime beauty of existence, and to have an intimate knowledge of the unfathomable tragedy of life's dilemmas and the suffering of sentient beings.

What ethical implications should we expect from the quantum #Multiverse? In this blogpost I show that decision-making still works the same way. The implications are more about how we should think and feel from a cosmic perspective. lesswrong.com/posts/hf4YAmj3…
