@ss_optimist_ @DaRealJerma9851 Probably better than a square box shroud? I know it’s a big turbulent tube but boundary layer laminar flow esp at supersonic speeds would prob help the grid fins appreciably.

@otherside_X42 A gas shield. If the tiles become too big of a turnaround hamper, I can see them ditching them all together and making little ports for gas to flow through the windward side. Think of the leidenfrost effect.
