Boy do I have the book for you! Self Sacrifice? ✅ Courage? ✅ Love of Family? ✅ Masculine Men? ✅ Girls that could easily have been "Girl Bosses" but are written with tact instead? ✅ The Romance only goes as far as a stolen kiss? ✅ Noble Role models for the reader and the MC? ✅

I kind of want to write a superhero book that's not an anti hero just to go against this angsty anti hero tide Hollywood has been dishing out lately. Not writing in spite, but maybe filing a void people are feeling right now. So, he, or she maybe, would be an anti anti hero. Something that harkens back to when Superman was just Super? Would you read such a book?

@BonnieReads777 @_Lin_inc Indeed. I mean the man is in his 80s it’s not like he can go out and get 9 to 5, and assuming they are not estranged etc how much money did he spend on her when she was a kid and getting, no doubt (given her millionaire financial status) an expensive education etc etc

What should i do?” Caller: My 80 year old father is asking my husband and me for $55,000 to pay off his credit card and car loan debt. Dave: What’s your financial situation? Carla: We’re retired, debt free, net worth between $2 and $3 million but we’re on a fixed income and would have to dip into retirement accounts to do it. Dave: And your husband’s position? Carla: He’s firmly against it. But my dad is very persuasive and I feel guilty saying no. Dave: Carla, the answer is no. You have no moral, ethical, or biblical obligation to fund your father’s bad financial habits especially when manipulation is part of how he’s asking. Carla: But he’s 80 and he’s my dad. Dave: Being your dad doesn’t give him the right to your retirement. And “no” is a complete sentence. Don’t give him an encyclopedia of reasons, he’ll debate every one. Be brief, be gentle, and be firm. Carla: What can I offer instead? Dave: Gift him Financial Peace University. Give him the tools to help himself. That’s generous without enabling the pattern.

Lovely review that captures the core theme of the series. Yes, this is a revenge saga, with all the action and gory violence you might expect from a fast-paced dark-fantasy, but the need for revenge comes from a place of loss, grief, and undying rage.

@fandompulse I think part of the reason people read things like the Odyssey is exactly because there is a different feel to it. The culture is ancient and different to ours, in many ways, the people believe different things etc.

Christopher Nolan says his version of The Odyssey is for modern audiences: “When you look at the ancient world… there’s a lot of cultural prejudice….I want to make it feel very fresh for modern audiences.” Is this the final blow for the movie?
