@UnicornExhaust I'm pretty sure these are the circulars you can use to make socks, i have a pair of these in size 2. It's just an alternative to dpns or magic loop. I wouldn't have expected to see it in size 4 tho. Did you just find these in the wild?

@TunaChipTV Personally, I don't find that the hype around a situation builds up expectations that cause me disappointment. Maybe I'm jaded in the correct ways or something because I'll tailor my own hype depending on what the hype is about.
