Many coaches have asked me what our program looks like once you pay the monthly subscription fee (cancel anytime). So, I decided to give a behind the scenes look of what our program offers. Our mission is to help prevent coaching burnout in those first years as a new head coach. I believe strongly in this mission. I am a husband, dad of 2 (4 year old and a 10 month old), full-time attorney, and high school football head coach, but I am still spending all my spare hours building this program. Enjoy this behind the scenes look of Coaches Help Coaches!

Coaches - I would add to this - leadership cannot happen without a foundation of honesty and truth. Never lie to your players/coaches or ask them to lie for you. Honesty may make things uncomfortable in the short term but your relationships will be much better for it long term
Coach Zach Baber@the_sytch

Most things in life can be broken down into simple terms, especially leadership. As a new head coach, don't overcomplicate what it means to be a leader. Show up consistently, listen to your players, and hold everyone, including yourself, to a high standard. The team will follow what you model, not just what you say.

Help settle a debate at our house. If you are having a Thanksgiving meal at the early dinner time slot (4 pm), do you eat lunch that day?

"I enjoyed coaching before I became a head coach." This negative thought jumps into my head about once a week. Why do I share this? Everyone needs to realize this thought is normal. Coaching is a calling. Because of this, it feels wrong to complain or show any sign of weakness. What can we do then? Step 1. Recognize these thoughts. Step 2. Reframe those thoughts. Example reframe: "Yes, being a head coach comes with increased responsibilities. But, being a head coach gives me an opportunity to have an impact on more kid's lives" The more often we do these simple reframes, the less these negative thoughts will come.

This time of year often bothers me. Schools are making decisions on coaches' employment status. It just bothers me to see other coaches rooting for schools to fire coaches and staff. Is it within your "rights"? Yep. But is it right?

@CoachShiffman 11. Because I like using the H (slot reciever) as a hybrid RB and TE. So, we could easily make it look like a 12 or 21 personnel package without actually changing personnel. Is that cheating?

During my planning period, I decided to go into the gym and teach the dive and counter to kids who had never played football before.... 😂 We can dress up the stance, fake, and hand off's another time... 😂

Don’t let fear stop you from accomplishing your dreams. Stop being afraid to go for it because you fear failure. Stop not giving your all because you want that easy excuse as to why it didn’t work out. Go give it your all, work hard, don’t quit and you will find success.

@CalebCorrill @DrewChance_10 100% agree. We have to be humble enough that their are always better practices. Step one is realizing we don't know everything. Step two is pursuit of the answers.

@CoachBechler Great analogy. Most of the work any of us do that matters resembles an iceberg. Most of the work no one sees.

COACHES: Our team's true culture is like an iceberg with most of it unseen. The unseen part makes or breaks our team. The things that go on in a cafeteria, dorm room, back of the bus, or locker room is our culture. How are we equipping our players for when we're not around?

The quickest way to see improvement is to be brutally honest to yourself about were you are at. If you're not honest with yourself with your development, it's going to take much longer to reach any goals.

@the_sytch @kurt13warner Agreed! I’d assume it’s a “pick a side” deal depending on the trips check I like “poppy” as a cover 2 beater I really like the built in return option if it’s man / it’s covered

I feel I could go into any game w/ quick game & a version of these 8 plays & have a great deal of success! These are 8 base plays that every coach should carry every week (of course can be adjusted to level & formations)… be great at the details & don’t over complicate it!

I would like to hear his answer too, but most should be quick reads on the defender covering the middle receiver on trips side. Assuming defense is playing a corner off look against trips, which most will. Hiss and Under are two of my favorite to run. Especially with the middle open vs closed variation on Hiss.
