Many things can be simultaneously true. Canada has mismanaged forestry. Wildfires can go in cycles and very large ones happen every number of years regardless of management. Mismanagement has made the above worse. The American response to the situation isn't exactly mature.

@CanadianNunya The difference is, when they happen in the US, it's in spite of management and mitigation attempts. Lately, in Canada, it's specifically because you've stopped trying. Therefore, the risk has dramatically increased in past years. Context matters. I grew up in Canada's forests.
