One of the most unreasonable things a man can do is hide behind "Islam allows it" to justify marrying a second wife without informing the first. Permission and wisdom are not the same thing. If you're afraid to tell your wife, then perhaps the issue isn't what Islam permits. Perhaps it's your own inability to deal with the consequences of your choices. Not everything that is permissible should be done in the most careless way possible. Honesty is part of character too.
