The four eras of NFT history, their defining events, rarity relative to today’s total estimated supply, and some of their representative assets, projects and artists.

For centuries, artworks existed as paintings, sculptures, things that occupied space. When art moved into the digital world, most digital artworks became fragile files stored on servers, dependent on platforms that could disappear. Instead of storing an image somewhere, we can embedd the artwork itself directly inside an Ethereum smart contract. The code inside the contract can generate the visual every time the piece is viewed. There is no external file and no server. If the artwork can truly exist as a program, then it should not rely on external marketplaces either. So the contract can also contain its own marketplace logic. The artwork renders itself, records its ownership, and can be purchased directly from the contract itself. It is not listed somewhere. It sells itself. Each piece is a 1 of 1 system where the visual engine, ownership record, and exchange mechanism are unified inside a single artifact living on Ethereum. The result is an artwork that exists as autonomous code, generating its form, tracking its owner, and enabling its own transfer. It will continue to exist and operate for as long as Ethereum exists. art.han.io

@suparno67 @ripe0x As highlighted in the screenshot, each new bid updated the calibration plate settings the entire collection is based on, including bids against yourself. I was just exploring to get new settings outputs before the definitive lock at the end of the auction ;)

First time outbidding myself in an auction. Hopefully I did justice to the bid-based calibration @ripe0x

@DTODDART @ripe0x You had to, getting this harmony on a 3x3 grid is insane this early. I actually ran into a 'no grid' situation earlier. Not sure how common that is, but I had to settle it too

Very proud of this! Working on this show has been an insanely transformative experience for me To keep this short, I am not tagging names, but I am deeply grateful to everyone who took part in making it happen
jonooo@im_jonooo

Now that the dust has settled on today’s auction, I’m insanely proud to announce that Intimate Systems now has its very own onchain exhibition interface!!! Inspired by @0xShiroi and the World Computer Sculpture Garden 🐐 With an intro from @lukeweaver_eth 🐐 A huge thank you to @YigitDuman and the crew for working in their spare time to ensure this show had a proper onchain presence and lineage 🐐🐐🐐 And to top it all off, the work is now displayed in its full capacity on SuperRare.com (link below). None of this would be possible without the support of SR and all of the artists, collectors, bidders, and friends who made this such a special moment for all of us. @0x0000G @producedbydav @0xdiid @I____felix____I @nahiiko @ripe0x @takenstheorem @tokenfox1

Yesterday, @videodrome, an artist I’ve long been fascinated by, gifted me his only existing GAN sculpture, generated and 3D printed in September 2017. A work that lived in my researcher’s mind for years and now finds its place in my collection. It’s just surreal. Thank you Robbie

PUSH4 is now, and for eternity, a fully on-chain exhibition of the curated proxies, cycling indefinitely with block height. An exceptionally unique and pioneering piece that I’ll cherish.
Yigit Duman@YigitDuman

PUSH4 Curation is now live! The curation committee, @thearchivist, @im_jonooo, and I reviewed all submissions and included every work except test proxies. The collector @thearchivist has set PUSH4 to Executed mode, and the proxy is now assigned to the Orchestrator contract. The Orchestrator contract creates an endless exhibition of proxy artworks. It rotates through registered proxies based on block number, automatically cycling to a new transformation at regular intervals. PUSH4 now consists of 28 unique works that will cycle indefinitely. As new proxies are deployed, they will be added to the rotation periodically. Thank you to everyone who deployed proxies and made this possible.

1/ Acquired another Skull by Robbie Barrat and Ronan Barrat. Created at a time when the whole world began to shift into a seemingly generated, algorithmically determined reality, they mark the end of an era and remind us of the frailty of perceived truth. 🧵introducing art I♥️

On Jan. 20, 2012, 14 years ago, @iRyanBell created what many now consider the earliest crypto art NFT by crafting an original steganographic remix of the 4chan Rage Comics Fuck Yea meme, deliberately designed to fit fully on-chain via base64 within a single Namecoin name value.

The creator of the 2012 Fuckyea on-chain images has finally been identified: a creative coder exploring blockchain since 2010 — and still a crypto artist today. It turns out the two pixel-made assets may in fact be the earliest crypto arts ever made 👇 @archivist-eth/fuckyea-2012-a-brief-echo-into-the-void-of-crypto-art-a93097473476" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@archivist-eth…
