I'm also not sure why Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter (no mention of Holy Saturday) belong exclusively to the "Christian Unitarian Universalists" according to the spreadsheet.

The Utah Board of Higher Education provides a list of religious holidays for student exemptions. On December 23 is "Joseph Smith's Birthday." Does anyone have experience celebrating this as a holiday? I'm interested in the traditions around this day.

As I get ready to move, I submitted my resignation a few weeks ago. Spring 2024 will be my last semester at Utah Tech. I'm so excited for everything ahead of me. I also got to see a glimpse of what some people in the academy think about women who choose not to work.

Honestly, an extremely concerning part of Jana Riess’ Next Mormons is the reveal that 33.5% of Former Mormons in 2016 believed that “sex between married homosexual people” is wrong. That’s only 27.5% lower than Mormons. Leaving Mormonism ≠ deconstructing all unhealthy beliefs.

I never met Lavina in person, but I'm grateful for our correspondence. She had a huge impact on Exponent II as an early contributor, guest of honor at the last Exponent Day Dinner in 1982, and a co-organizer of the Nauvoo Pilgrimage that influenced ExII's first national retreat.

Lavina Fielding Anderson, a titan of modern Mormonism, passed away today. She's among the best the modern Mormon community produced. Here's a brief tribute I wrote on fb.
