@instablog9ja Politics isn’t about who shouts the loudest or who knows who, it’s about competence, credibility, and the people’s choice. If you say “better qualified”, let Nigerians decide that at the ballot, not political gatekeeping.

You Can’t B¥lly Your Way Into Presidency. There Are Better Qualified People From the South East Than Peter Obi — V.P Shettima Fumes Vice President Kashim Shettima has said Nigeria’s presidency cannot be won through coercion, stressing that leadership in a diverse country requires inclusivity and broad acceptance. Speaking on the political climate, he emphasized unity and coalition-building, stating: “In a multi-ethnic, multi-religious politics like ours, nobody can bulldoze his way to power through deceit, lies, intim+dation, thr+ats and bl@ckmail. You get to power by building bridges, by reaching out.” Shettima expressed support for a South-East president to address historical grievances but criticized certain approaches, saying: “I am for the emergence of a Nigerian president of South-Eastern extraction to heal the wounds of the civil w@r. But the models of engagement adopted by the delusional audiovisual crowd is condemnable and it will take them nowhere.” Referencing past politics, he highlighted grassroots strategy: “Shehu Musa Yar’Adua crisscrossed the whole of this nation building bridges and when he defeated the late Lateef Jakande in Lagos and Lateef Jakande invited him to a contest, to a popularity contest along the streets of Lagos, he retorted by saying go for that contest with Sarumi because it was Sarumi and co. It was the likes of Sarumi and Bola Tinubu that delivered Lagos during the presidential primaries.” He added that more qualified candidates exist in the South-East: “I believe even in the South-East there are better qualified people to rule this nation than Gringory.” Citing examples, he said: “Honestly, I dare to mention my friend Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha. He was born, bred, buttered and toasted in the North. He speaks Hausa with local fluency. He made his money in the North and in Lagos and he’s at home in all parts of the country.” He also praised David Umahi: “We have David Umahi. Yes, you can call him a provincial politician but there’s no governor in the South-East that has performed better than David Umahi. Go to Ebonyi and see the roads constructed by him, then you’ll come to appreciate this great son of Africa.”

**Beyond Commissioning: What Today’s Lagos Projects Should Mean for Governance and Public Trust** Today, President Bola Tinubu is in Lagos to commission a set of major infrastructure projects delivered by the Lagos State Government. These include the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service building in Alausa, the Multi-Agency Complex, the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, the Maracana Stadium, and the Lagos Food Logistics Hub in Abijo. On paper, this is what governance should look like. Infrastructure that addresses traffic congestion Facilities that improve public administration Investments in education, sports, and food systems But in Nigeria, project commissioning is no longer just about what is built. It is about trust. Because the real question citizens are asking is simple What does this change for me? Take the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge for example. It is expected to ease traffic across key corridors like Allen, Maryland, and Ojota. That is impact. But impact is not only in construction. It is in communication. How clearly has this been explained to the average Lagosian navigating traffic daily? How will we measure if congestion has truly reduced in six months? The same applies to the Lagos State Geographic Information Service building. Digitising land records is a major governance reform. It can reduce corruption, improve transparency, and make land administration more efficient. But if citizens do not understand how this affects them, the reform remains abstract. Then there is the Lagos Food Logistics Hub in Abijo. In a time of rising food prices and economic pressure, this is not just an infrastructure project. It is a policy intervention in food distribution and supply chains. But again, the question remains How does this translate to lower food costs, better access, or improved livelihoods? The Tolu Schools Complex and Maracana Stadium also reflect investment in human capital and grassroots development. Education and sports are long-term nation-building tools. But long-term value must be communicated with clarity, not assumed. This is the core issue. Nigeria does not only struggle with delivering projects. Nigeria struggles with explaining them, measuring them, and sustaining public confidence around them. Too often, governance stops at the point of commissioning. Ceremonies are held Speeches are made Photos are taken And then the system moves on But citizens do not move on. They live with the outcomes, or the absence of them. This is why public communication must evolve. Government must move from announcing projects to interpreting impact. From showcasing infrastructure to demonstrating value. From visibility to understanding. Because governance is not just about doing the work. It is about helping people see, understand, and believe in the work. Lagos has always been a model for what is possible in Nigeria. But today’s commissioning should represent more than progress. It should represent a shift. A shift toward governance that is not only effective, but also transparent, measurable, and people-centered. That is how trust is built. And without trust, even the most impressive infrastructure will always feel incomplete. #lagos #tinubu

Let’s be honest here, what Nyesom Wike said was clearly banter, but people are deliberately taking it out of context just to push a narrative. This outrage is now selective. Same you have said worse things to people just because they support APC. So before pointing fingers, remove the log in your own eye first before talking about another person’s own. We can’t keep twisting everything just to score political points. Not everything is intimidation, sometimes na just talk wey una wan use blow.

If Nigeria had a President, that President would have ordered for the immediate arrest and questioning of his/her Minister who threatens to shoot a journalist while addressing the press. Wike knows Nigeria does not have a President and so can behave in such reckless manner and get away with it! In fact it is fair to say Wike is acting out the approved script of intimidation and violence!

This is heartbreaking. Too many lives lost, too many families destroyed. From Plateau State to Benue State, Kaduna State, Zamfara State and Borno State, it’s the same story of blood and tears. This level of insecurity is completely unacceptable and must be condemned without excuse. But let’s also be honest, this is not the time for politics or trying to score points. Peter Obi should stop always trying to gain relevance by dragging Bola Ahmed Tinubu at every turn. Nigerians are dying, this is bigger than opposition talking points. We need solutions, not constant blame games. Intelligence, security reform, accountability. That’s what matters now. Lives are being lost daily. That should be the focus. Not who trends on X.

“This Experience Will Not Repeat Itself” - Another Presidential Promise fails in less than 24 Hours. Less than 24 hours after President Tinubu stood at the Jos Plateau State airport on April 2, 2026, and promised the grieving Nigerian citizens, “I promise you that this experience will not repeat itself,” another brutal attack occurred in Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South LGA, resulting in the deaths of several innocent citizens. Since then, and only a week following that reassuring promise from the President, Nasarawa State has been plunged into grief as the Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities fled for their lives after gunmen killed at least 11 people. Many homes were reduced to ashes, and numerous families remain missing. In Zamfara State, 150 innocent Nigerians were abducted from the Kurfa Danya and Kurfan Magaji communities in one of the largest mass kidnappings in recent times. On the same day of the Zamfara kidnappings, terrorists in Borno State stormed Chibok, killing four officers and burning down homes. Yesterday, on Easter Sunday, Benue State was rocked by violence again, with over 17 Nigerians massacred, entire communities left in ruins, and many individuals still unaccounted for. Today, in Kaduna State, several innocent citizens were killed by terrorists inside churches, with many others abducted in the Ariko community of Kachia LGA. Yet we were told, “This experience will not repeat itself.” This represents a failure of leadership and responsibility, and sadly, Nigerians are paying for it with their lives. These attackers are not ghostly figures; our inaction emboldens them. How can a President make such a categorical promise and, mere hours later, the nation continues to count the dead across multiple states? The primary responsibility of any government is to protect lives and property; however, this responsibility is failing today. Nigerians are being slaughtered in their homes, in their communities, and in the very places they should feel safest. Even the President did not enter these communities, so who is truly safe in Nigeria? This is a national emergency. Nigeria is bleeding, and the situation is worsening and increasingly helpless. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

If you’re driving toward Ojota via Alausa/Oregun/Allen right now, please be careful! There was an armed mob earlier blocking the road and causing chaos. Not sure if they’re still there, but don’t take chances, stay alert, avoid the area if you can. 🙏🏾 #lagos #AtletiBarça @instablog9ja @PulseNigeria247

@instablog9ja ₦3.3 trillion to fix electricity, yet Nigeria still generates ~5,000MW for 200M+ people. Generators are still doing the real work. At what point do we stop announcing money… and start delivering light? 💡🇳🇬

Nigerians are not asking for announcements anymore. We are asking for LIGHT. Until we see real, consistent power supply, every ₦trillion “solution” will sound like the same recycled script.

Electricity is not theory. It’s simple: Can you run your AC all night? Can your business survive without a generator? If the answer is NO, then the system is still broken.

₦3.3 TRILLION to “fix electricity” in Nigeria. Yet Nigeria still generates ~4,000–5,000MW for over 200 million people. For context: South Africa generates 40,000MW+. So what exactly are we fixing? 🧵

I hear you — and you’re right that this is a systemic problem. The military, intelligence structure, and internal compromises are all part of the issue. But let’s be honest too: leadership sets the tone, direction, and accountability. When a system keeps failing repeatedly, the people at the top cannot be shielded from responsibility. If the security architecture is compromised, who is responsible for reforming it? If intelligence is failing, who is meant to overhaul it? If there are bad actors within, who is meant to purge and prosecute them? Systemic failure does not remove leadership responsibility — it reinforces it. Both can be true: Yes, the system is broken. And yes, the government must be held accountable for fixing it. Because at the end of the day, Nigerians don’t vote for “the system” — we vote for leaders to fix it.

@thebillionakin @MobilePunch @officialABAT Please stop talking about the failure of any government. It is a systemic failure which is endemic in the military. The head of government only has 50% of the blame but who are the people to do some things . Are they not compromised?
