You know Tshidi, my take is that the former majority governing party would not have needed to campaign by convincing people to vote for them. All they needed to do was maintain infrastructure, deliver improved services to the people, enabled job creation, focused on improving the quality of education and other low-lying fruit. As things stand, the confidence of the people on their ability to deliver is gone.

"The moment soon arrives when the regime is judged not by its promises but by its performance, and if it has merely entrenched itself in positions of privilege reminiscent of its ousted predecessor... that judgement is likely to be a harsh one." - Clapham

Gauteng under the leadership of Panyaza Lesufi, Lebogang Maile and the Alex Mafia is crumbling in front of our eyes. It's one crisis after the other .Nothing is working. Water crisis. Road crisis. Potholes crisis. Electricity crisis Lesufi does not know what he is doing. Alex Mafia are looting, it's like they know they never coming back. The only solution EVERY WERK is to host multi million rand retreats over a few days costing tax payers millions to talk about how to solve the issues. Within the 1st 100 days they have had 9 already. Lesufi Most of the time is on X stirring up racial tensions instead of fixing the province and creating Unity. As the most important province in South Africa collapses, Luthuli House House watches from the sidelines. Cry the beloved province. Cry the beloved country.Jhb is just a former glory of itself. PANYAZA LESUFI HAS DESTROYED GAUTENG

@ThuliMadonsela3 @aishapandor such a pity she didn't care more about other African countries - eg poor Mozambique, that has been suffering Islamist Terrorist attacks for years already .. Congo/Sudan/Somalia/Ethiopia are bleeding 🌍 Black-on-Black Slavery happening in Mali/Libya/Gabon 🌍

My mom has been an ANC member and activist for all of my life. I share a birthday with the ANC, and for most of my life, I proudly spent Jan 8th with other family or friends, while my parents served the party. Since I was almost 9 years old, she has served as a member of South Africa’s democratic government. During those three decades, she has led with dedication, integrity, intelligence, wisdom, a love for her country, and a focus on principles, those held high by her religion, upbringing, country and party. Yesterday I told her for the countless time, how much I love her, how much she inspires me and how proud I am of her. I’m excited for this next stage in her life, which I know will be anything but idle. It will undoubtedly be focussed on creating positive impact and on continuing to champion the causes of the underserved, voiceless and powerless. I’m also hoping that as by far the most hardworking person I’ve ever met, she finally takes a bit of well-deserved time for rest. Very proud and grateful daughter, and hopeful for SA. May our country and people be blessed with peace, unity, growth and prosperity 🇿🇦

It is always said that from a crisis something good must come out of it. We are unable to read news and our books in electronic format. This might just revive the newspaper and printing industry.

@karynmaughan Indeed any attempt by president, other politician or authority figure to tell the National Prosecuting Authority who should be prosecuted by whom would be unlawful, a violation of the independence of the prosecutorial services and accordingly unconstitutional

Telling that the former President thinks that Ramaphosa could and should have interfered in the operations of an independent prosecuting authority - despite the constitution explicitly prohibiting this. If Ramaphosa had done this, he would have been breaking the law.
