How it feels to be autistic on April fools day

Autistic people don’t take things literally because they misunderstand. They take things literally because they respect you enough to believe what you said.

autistic people are good at pattern recognition and unfortunately sometimes it means i get anxious about things that people don’t understand, but then it turns out that i was right to be anxious, which actually sucks because it reinforces my anxiety.

Being neurodivergent means you’ve said “I told you this would happen” more times than you can count. Not to be right. Just because you genuinely couldn’t understand why no one else saw it.

Being neurodivergent means that no one listens to you because you’re right too far in advance and then, when it’s finally come to fruition, the common law statute of limitations for remembering what someone else said a while ago has been surpassed so we don’t even get to be told we were right. it’s deeply unsatisfying

i think autistic people are often mistaken for being argumentative and needing to be right, when in reality, it's more about needing the information to be CORRECT... because we get overwhelming anxiety when we're convinced that it isn't.
