@thecinemapunk

I get paid to watch films, so basically I'm living the dream. If you need me, I'll be buried in a pile of comics and genre movies 📼 he/him

With HOKUM Damian McCarthy has crafted one of the scariest films of recent memory (literal screams in the cinema), and possibly the best Silent Hill adaptation not called Silent Hill. Tense, full of dread, punctuated with terrifying scares and pops of humour. A rare gem.

@DeviateHulk @bornposting Absolutely, and if it ever gets to a point where Ron Pearlman physically can’t do it, I’m sure an animated version of Hellboy would be perfectly acceptable. Del Toro is the “animation is cinema” guy after all

@bornposting Crooked Man is a half decent indie film, but 2019 was trying to hard to cash in on the wave of R-rated superhero films. The issue with Hellboy is that he owes more to classic pulp heroes than modern superheroes and I don't think any modern adaptation captures that.

"Plot Holes" are fine. Movies need to make emotional sense before they do logical. If you don't notice a plot hole until waaay after the movie ends, then the writer did their keeping you emotionally invested in the characters and story. Most plot holes are nitpicking pedantry.

I think a faithful adaptation of the Resident Evil games would be fun (if not a bit redundant) but let's be honest the franchise needs a GOOD film first before it starts making films that only appeal to fans of the games.

@ProphetOfKek117 If I was playing a racing game I think I'd prefer to play a game that was built from the ground up with racing in mind, not something that added racing as an afterthought to pad the runtime.

The RE trailer is...ok. The material seems fine but I'm not sold on the "random person surviving" scenario. Isn't that already every zombie movie? Why its so hard to just do STARS vs Umbrella? I will say I hate the phone disconnect noise they repeatedly use in here. Annoying.
Movie Dumpster™@MovieDumpster

Ok, ya got us. We really love Cregger’s work, and this seems to be paying an earnest hommage while doing its own thing. It feels like it could easily be a spin off or parallel scenario without feeling forced. What do you Dumpster Dwellers think? youtu.be/SJPu1spHqfk?si…

@NeoGameSpark As those shows have MULTIPLE references and tie ins to their games, hell Arcane was the introduction to the newest character in League. Their isn’t a single RE enemy or in that RE trailer

“Why call it a RESIDENT EVIL movie if it doesn’t star the main characters of the game!?” I agree… OH WAIT.

@GoyangiFish They were tied to umbrella, and its experiments. While initially 7 felt like a standalone game, it reveals ties to the wider lore through the involvement of the BSAA, remnants of Umbrella. Which as we saw was instrumental in 8. So yeah, they were clearly Resident Evil

If true,where are the B.O.W s from RE2, the Dogs, Lickers, etc. Why is it snowing instead of raining. Where are the vehicle pile ups? This clearly is not the world of RE2. It looks like a great Survival Horror, but the dishonesty here is really annoying.
Bloody Disgusting@BDisgusting

Zach Cregger imagines his RESIDENT EVIL as taking place during the events of Resident Evil 2. He tells @IGN, "I feel like this movie takes place alongside the events of RE 2. I like to think that everything that's going on in the police station could be happening in this world. This is just another dude on another mission on the other side of town."
