Indigenous Peoples, people of African descent, and local communities are guardians of our nature. Their traditional knowledge is a living library of biodiversity conservation. They must be protected. And they must be part of every biodiversity conversation. #COP16Colombia

It is most important to plant indigenous species in local areas to revive the local ecosystem. Native species will bring back all the associated species of microbes, worms, insects, birds and all interlinked life forms. This is the effort of #CauveryCalling, a model project in the world, encouraging farmers to plant 54 indigenous species of trees native to the Cauvery river basin. As of September 2024, Cauvery Calling has facilitated the plantation of 114 million living trees. -Sg
