A dismembered body of a woman aged 25–30 years was discovered by railway staff aboard a train in Lucknow. Now the TVK has 108 MLAs and Congress has 5. That takes the total to 113, still short of the majority mark by 5 seats. So the obvious question is: how can the govt be formed without the required numbers? On what constitutional basis can the Governor invite them to form the govt without proving a majority? If the alliance does not have the numbers, then blaming the BJP or the Governor for “not allowing” the govt formation makes little logical sense. The Governor’s role is based on legislative majority, not political sentiment or protest demonstrations.
