What a good side Wrexham is! They’ve made a statement by dragging Chelsea to extra time. Chelsea could play them potentially in the prem next season. Since Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney took over in 2021, they have promoted 3 times consecutively (record). They’ve upgraded their training facilities, and currently upgrading the stadium which is one of the oldest grounds in the history of football. These owners have also brought the community together, lots of school & youth programs, mental health initiatives, and the likes. Let’s talk football. They have signed 66 players in this timeframe and let 76 players go. They’re very strategic, they understand that levels are different. I pity people who think a grassroot player can just walk into professional football very easily. Even a League two professional isn’t same as a League one professional. The owners won’t bring a National League level squad into the Championship. Not a squad overhaul, but there must be a huge signing of experience. I’m not sure they wanted to dedicate time to adaptations, they just want to get straight into promotion positions. I remember watching them in the National League, I fell in love with Paul Mullin, but as they progressed higher, they realised he’s not the man and loaned him twice now. Not fair on him considering what he’s done for the club, but football is brutal. The good thing they also do is that whenever they promote to a higher league, they look for players who have played that level, players who know the in & out of that level, players who are probably having minor issues with their clubs and need a change, they go for such players. For example, Windass wasn’t paid by Sheffield Wednesday, his contract terminated, Wrexham recruited him. Kieffer Moore also wanted to leave after the Sheffield United loss at the play offs in Wembley, the club also wanted to part ways, and it was good for him to return to Wales, his home country, why not? They also signed him because he knows the championship well. Wrexham also pay good wages, they’re among the top payers in the championship, and that’s how it has been as they grew. This has made them attractive even to top players. I’m not really worried about their promotion to the premier league. If they do, the owners will surely repeat the same strategy, they know they cannot progress with championship-level players alone, they gotta sign players with experience at premier league level, top distressed players😅, who also want a change, even if it’s a loan. How about the cohesion in the club? Ryan flew the whole club after they won the National League to US, he wants that togetherness, he’d built a fanbase over in the US too. At this point, these American owners are treating Wrexham more as a brand. Wrexham are also featuring in pre seasons with big clubs like Chelsea (remember the Colwill fight with McClean😅). Anyways, I can talk about Wrexham all day because I’ve been following them since the National League, and if you search my tweets, I also predicted them to promote to the prem this season, which will happen hopefully. 4th time consecutively. It’s a well-run club, watch out for them. I have watched them live in an FA Cup game last season against Sheffield United, but I hope to see them in Wrexham before season ends.
