These cannot be taken in isolation from the other passages that are far more martial -- or the commands of a God who often sanctions righteous violence. Peace without strength isn't possible. Christians learned this in horrific ways in over a thousand years of battle with Islam.

Christianity in this form is doomed. If the Pope cannot imagine a war of self defense against evil forces (like Islamic Jihad), this Christianity will not survive. It isn't always possible to negotiate with those want to kill you. Sometimes you have to smite first.

The CATHOLIC CHURCH is the only ONE AND TRUE CHURCH by which all people can enter into FULL communion with Christ. Other non-Catholic “churches” (except our friends in the east…we’re making a deal very soon) have a duty and obligation to Christ to seek full communion with the Church He established. Christ gave the KEYS OF THE KINGDOM to “Rocky” otherwise known as Peter (whom Jesus also curiously told to feed HIS sheep). The successor of “Rocky” is Pope Leo XIV, the current Roman Pontiff who has FULL and immediate ordinary jurisdiction over the whole Church and over each and every one of the faithful, in matters of faith, morals, discipline, and governance.
