I encourage everyone to make a trip to the Pacific NW in late September once in your life. Fresh hop season is a BIG deal here where the hops grow. The beer can’t really be made remotely (no doubt why breweries quit trying), but I assure you, they’re lovely and plentiful here.

Founded in 1829, Historic Neir’s Tavern is one of America's oldest watering holes, which was the set for scenes from iconic films like Goodfellas (trivia question below:). Neir’s is often referred to as “The Most Famous Bar You've Never Heard Of.” Today I was at the Woodhaven Queens tavern filming an upcoming TV segment for Fox 5 with one of the most solid guys I know, Loycent Gordon, who purchased, and has now saved Historic Neir’s Tavern twice from shuttering, which he passionately credits to the power of building a strong community, in and around this local small business. Words of wisdom that Loycent learned from real life experience. TRIVIA QUESTION: In Goodfellas, de Niro, Liotta, Pesci, and cast, plan and return to Neir’s Tavern after what?
