@NYFootballCoach 👆🏻this. Not to mention it helps by providing proper perspective and more realistic expectations when dealing with “kids” instead of adults. Easy to forget what it’s like to be a kid…unless you coach them every day haha
English

@thehsballcoach Truth. Same with my 13-year-old boy. As a parent, you have to be organized, have to have a plan and have to be a good listener.
English

We always talk about the ways in which playing football prepares you for life.
But, real talk? COACHING 🏈 has prepared me for far more of life’s responsibilities.
#1 on that list: raising my son.
I believe my experiences prepared me for parenthood in a way little else can.
English

@dustinwmills Amazes me every day how fast they change and evolve.
English

@thehsballcoach My son just turned 3 on Saturday, and I can already see many of the skills I learned coaching carry over. Maybe there is something to that…🤔🤔🤔
English

@CoachJagGraham 🤣My superstitions have superstitions.
Even better, tho? Our absolute freak ILB who basically won the game for us, ate an entire sleeve of oreos the night before every game thereafter for the same reason.
English

@thehsballcoach I know there are weekly OL chats, defensive chats, @txhsfbchat does some good stuff and a few others. As I come across them (can’t remember them all), I will tag you in them!
English

@JamieKGaymon 👆this. I definitely need to apply my coaching approach of planning and forethought on here as well
English

@MikeF32 🙌 I need to get better at this. My instinct is never to record and share...that's gotta change!
English

@thehsballcoach Those moments that start giving you goosebumps or fulfills you cause you know you're doing great work....film it cause something special is about to happen. Then share it later when you have time to reflect on it...simple
English

@edsadloch My biggest weakness - wanting every tweet to be "perfect"
English

@kdawgswift 👊 Great call. As always, it comes down to proper planning and scheduling.
English

@PeglegCoach 🤣 Yes, the wife and 2yr old have proven to be my largest obstacle, even more than "work"
English

@thehsballcoach I have like 7 alarms set on my phone for the various chat sessions. Have learned a lot and made a bunch of connections. Oh I’m also single so there’s that lol
English

@CoachJagGraham Every time I hear another HS Coach say "Spring Ball" I die a little inside 🤣 - but agreed, twitter has become my go-to. It's really a great coaching community
English

@thehsballcoach We still haven’t started spring ball or anything yet, once that kicks off I’m sure I’ll be on less. But also I enjoy Twitter over all other platforms. I rarely log into any others.
English

@dustinwmills Seems like the step I need to take next - any personal recommendations?
English

@thehsballcoach A lot of groups do designated weekly group tweets, that’s a great way to plan a good time every week/few days.
English

@Coaching_Riches @CoachMckieJr The wife likes to throw my things away 🤣
English

@thehsballcoach @CoachMckieJr How did you get it down to 90%? 🤣🤣🤣
English

@CoachJagGraham "Look good, feel good, play good"
So long as equipment fits HS rules, and there aren't any stark color differences, I say let them swag it out.
Kids (and coaches) love the 💧
English

Wow!
I was not prepared for (or able to keep up with responses to) such a response.
Thank you everyone - there is some really great experience, insight, and practical advice in here.
HSFB Coach Twitter for the win!

Me as an OC - Strength: Opp Breakdown, Gameplan/Strategy, Install, Practice Prep Weakness: In-Game Review & Adjustment, Halftime Comm Any coaches on here have an approach to "seeing" the game better in the moment (obj data) & acting on it in a quick, concise, effective manner?
English

@CoachFields01 I’ve always failed to enact and then stick to proper charting in-game. Do you do it yourself or delegate? How nuanced do you get? Just plays and success? Or scheme vs scheme, by situation, etc?
English

@thehsballcoach This is why charting is so important. It tells you what has been successful and what you need to come back to. Who is getting touches and who needs touches...Stick to the gameplan as much as possible. My guys typically struggle with big schematic in-game adjustments.
