@ForOurKids50 @AskKubeir Without the "hidden" ones, Canada wouldn't be able to trade with Europe as effectively. The EU charges their trading partners a carbon tax emissions fee. With the industrial carbon taxes still in place, it would be easier for Canada to negotiate a deal free from those fees.

@ManiAsh @AskKubeir They'll also be charging domestics higher fees, thereby discouraging the youth from enrolling, so fewer people will receive higher education, thereby exacerbating the wealth gap while forcing industries to either move or outsource their labor, leading to more economic losses.

@AskKubeir These institutes' business models took the wrong turn in the past 3 to 4 years... this was not sustainable at all in the long run. They will not have the storm, they will just be making less profit but from real students. Good for the country, for them, and for legit students.

@AvehAyiwe @AskKubeir Why would they? There are plenty of Canadians and PRs with STEM degrees waiting for months to get a job. Whenever a new Tech job is posted, there are literally 100s of applications. Most Tech jobs are now offering minimal compensation due to the competition. Why add to the pool?

It's a fact that uncontrolled /unchecked number of students and workers were allowed to come to Canada and that has resulted in an obvious negative impact overall, including the otherwise positive/neutral sentiment of the Canadians. The daily twitter war is a good testament of how negative the sentiments are. One hand there are students and workers who are dealing with hi mental stress of high scores, diminishing pathways and constant changes And on the other hand are the Canadian residents who are fed up with resulting escalated housing prices, unemployment and inflation (of which some who themselves arrived through the same path as the aspiring students but somehow now suffer from selective amnesia) . Many other question the intent of students as per their SOP and others say that government never promised anything to students. Well Colleges/IRCC/government have always candidly implied and indicated it that studying in Canada is a pathway to stay here. Numerous statements from Minister Mendicino and then Minister Fraser laid emphasis on the positive value of students on the economy and even referred them to collectively as assets. IRCC accepts Dual Intent of intending to live in Canada permanently while making an application for temporary residence. However, this post is not about them vs others. It's simply to highlight the failure of governance which allowed the number of ITAs unchecked TRs to rise to what has now become a huge headache for the administration. Just like the infamous tweet from Justin Trudeau in 2017 opened the refugee flood gates, Mendicino and Fraser ensured we have 3 Million Temporary Residents, who we don't know what to do about. 🤷🏻

@CodyL_95 @AskKubeir Precisely! Now, domestic students will likely have to pay higher tuition fees, placing higher education even further out of reach for Canadians, thereby forcing the government to once again rely on TFWs or risk letting businesses outsource all their talent. Brilliant idea!

Now that the truth is out and finally the government is saying it in very clear terms that coming to Canada does not guarantee you will be able to live here forever, we will see the direct impact on several institutions as below: (feel free to add if I may have missed) ✅ Colleges/Universities ✅ Study Abroad aggregators (apply board) ✅ Banks (Loans and GIC) ✅ IELTS Coaching Centres ✅ Landlords ✅ Immigration Practioners ✅ Ghost consultants and Agents ✅ SOP writers (yes, it's a thing) None of these should matter to Canadians except the first one which is the College and Universities. With their finances impacted, they will be loosing teachers and making cuts, which will impact the level of education offered all around. Provinces will have to stepup and ensure proper funding is available to the relevant institutions.

@Nick49428317033 @norbalm @AskKubeir Canadian education isn't exactly the crown jewel that a lot of Canadians seem to think it is. Nor was it ever. The primary reason people have always wanted to come here has been to settle, and if they're able, move to the US once they receive their citizenship.

I have no idea what to expect from this, but it seems what you’re suggesting is accurate. It’s an insane idea. So many people clipping 505-540 in CEC draws are doing so because their already educated spouses have been here working in skilled employment. Take that away and you’re still left with people buying LMIAs for 50 points.

It would be interesting to see how #IRCC plans to restrict eligibility for spousal work permits. It appears that spousal eligibility will be tied to the principle applicant working in "management or professional occupations, or in sectors facing labor shortages." So, would 'management' encompass? Would it be restricted based on NOC codes or job titles or the org chart or the role of the person in the company. Same thing with professionals. I strongly feel this will be NOC restricted. Probably TEER 0 and 1. What do you think? #immigration #workpermit #regulations
