Watched #Lokah on OTT and found it to be TERRIBLY OVERRATED. Leave aside being overrated, it’s actually plain BORING with practically just 2-3 impressive sequences which work for elevation. The narrative is not just slow paced, it’s also haywire at certain junctures, especially the flashback sequence which is so important for the key revelation to be made but comes absolutely out of the blue. The climax could have been a different ball game altogether but is like any other mass commercial film that you don’t really feel like you are watching a true superhero film. As for the couple of post credit scenes, they aren’t much to talk about as well other than the star power that they boast of. There was a lot of talk about how as a small budget film, it worked. Well, the small budget shows and the indoor sequences, especially the bachelor pads of the protagonists, make you feel like you are actually watching a low budget regional OTT web series. Thankfully, some of the key sequences where the superhero factor comes into place, there is good VFX as well as production. BGM is a mixed bag and at places it does well while at certain key junctures, it’s dull. As for performances, there isn’t much to talk home about. #KalyaniPriyadarshan is required to manage a single expression throughout and there is a lot of monotonous feel there. At least some variations could have helped. The young boys don’t impress much and #TovinoThomas is made to overact with over enthusiasm. All in all, for me it turned out to be a disappointing film, and hopefully the next instalments that come on would be mounted on a better scale and also actually entertain.
