Xabi Alonso saying he's looking forward to working with Nicolas Jackson got me thinking... Am I the only one who wants to see Jackson as one of the two No.10s alongside Cole Palmer in Alonso's 3-4-2-1? Hear me out. Jackson's best qualities have never been just finishing chances. He's at his best when he's driving at defenders, carrying the ball, linking play, making runs into space and pressing like his life depends on it. Imagine Palmer controlling the game in one half-space while Jackson attacks the other, constantly running beyond the striker, dragging defenders out of position and creating space for everyone else. That role would give him far more freedom than asking him to play with his back to goal all game. With the way Xabi Alonso sets his teams up, I genuinely think it could work. Not because Jackson is a perfect No.10 in the traditional sense, but because Alonso builds his system around profiles, not positions. It might sound like a crazy idea today... but I honestly wouldn't mind seeing it tried during pre-season. Do you think Nicolas Jackson would be good as a No.10 alongside Cole Palmer?
