I've seen a lot of Chelsea fans choosing between Antonio Silva and Maxence Lacroix after the latest news, and honestly, I'd still go with Lacroix. Don't get me wrong, Antonio Silva is a brilliant defender. His composure on the ball, football IQ and ability to play out from the back are top class. If Chelsea signed him, I'd be happy. But when I think about Xabi Alonso's system, I keep coming back to Lacroix. The Premier League is one of the most demanding leagues in the world. You need centre-backs who can recover quickly, defend big spaces, match fast forwards stride for stride and dominate physical duels. That's exactly what Lacroix offers. On top of that, he already has Premier League experience, so the adaptation period should be much smaller than it would be for someone arriving from Portugal. For me, it's not about signing the more popular name. It's about signing the profile that gives Xabi Alonso everything he needs. Chelsea already have defenders who are comfortable on the ball. What we're still missing is an elite athlete at centre-back who can defend transitions without needing extra protection. Antonio Silva is a fantastic talent, but if I'm making the decision for Xabi Alonso's Chelsea, I'm choosing Maxence Lacroix every single time. He just feels like the more complete fit for what we're trying to build. What do you guys think?
