One of the craziest things about living in Florida is you’ll just be driving around a neighborhood and come across a pair of almost 5 foot tall dinosaurs.

@HarrisonHighto2 God forbid someone have high theming standard for a multiple thousand dollar experience. 🙄 I swear some of these people that defend Disney would pay for a literal turd in a plastic bucket if Disney told them it was “exclusive”.

Absolutely nothing elitist about this. He isn’t complaining about inside of Club 33. Also, it’s valid, the baseball caps are way too casual looking.

@rankingthemouse Magnolia and Palm are meant to be hard courses. He was talking about the 3 that were developed when he was there: Oak Trail, which started as a 6 hole kiddy course, and Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge, both now defunct. 91 on Magnolia is respectable.

@dfresh429 @BoardwalkTimes That’s bc Magnolia & Palm opened w/ the resort, before Eisner. They were meant to be hard. LBV opened a year later as an easier “country club” course. OT began as a 6-hole kids course that got expanded. Eisner’s talking abt Eagle Pines & Osprey Ridge, built in ‘92 (both defunct)

@BoardwalkTimes I do not believe that Magnolia or Palm are easy at all. I mean they hosted a PGA tour event on them until 2013. They have long par 4s, undulating greens, interesting water elements. Lake Buena Vista and Oak Trail are on the easier side. Conditions and customer service are💯

Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner on the golf courses at Walt Disney World. “We learned at Walt Disney World: make our golf courses easy. People come down there for a week. Fathers are not that interested in It’s A Small World. Playing golf, they want to think they did well. So we’re always saying the opposite of what most courses say. You know what? We don’t need quite as many sand traps, right? So the idea of making something easier resonates with me.” (gamefile.news/p/delphi-inter…)

@DoctorEmpyrean @BillHuntBits Absolutely. And part of my point is that you can do giant spectacles like this, but at a fraction of the cost. It’s like recording an album to tape as a musician, when you have Pro Tools. Like yeah, it’s more romantic, but you’re not helping your bottom line in a failing industry

@ThemeParchive @BillHuntBits Agreed but the real point overall is we are witnessing potentially the last days of movie theaters and people are going on about the expansion of the use of a very costly format. It's like having a sinking ship and ordering golden buckets.

The scary thing here is that IMAX can't build any more new projectors. (They apparently don't have a complete set of the engineering blueprints, most of the engineers who designed them have retired or passed away, and the parts supply chains have long since dried up.) So the goal for the foreseeable future is to upgrade and keep all the existing projectors running for as long as they can.

The 70mm IMAX, running 24/7 at the Irvine Spectrum for THE ODYSSEY, overheated today!

@DoctorEmpyrean @BillHuntBits Also, 17k digital is equivalent to 70mm film stock now. If you want the grain, add it digitally. 20 years ago, 70mm was still better than digital cameras. But IMAX doesn’t have that edge anymore. And it’s cheaper to film digital. The 70mm stock is pretentious wank at this point.

@BillHuntBits Cinemas are closing all over the country due to lack of attendance and people are believing that 70mm IMAX has a chance of expanding. It's like the grand delusions that vaudeville was going to overcome movies.

@acraftmason @kevinHeimbach13 It’s pretty much confirmed. There’s a flier for a “Sideshow Obscura” store at that address in the Boris Shuster window (or, at least there was like a month ago).

@MLMcCoyEXP Yes, on some later pyramids, the pyramidion had gold or electrum. But Khufu, Khafre, & Menkaure pyramids at Giza are thought to have had limestone caps, as some of their satellite pyramids still have. My fave is the black pyramidion of Amenemhat III, made of basalt. Looks sick.

@DoctorEmpyrean @jake_coasters The Monsters are probably the closest thing. And Doc Brown. But yeah, Universal - and pretty much every media company besides Disney - lacks a character as iconic as Mickey Mouse.

@jake_coasters Having a consistent set of characters that appear in all parks. Disney has the Fab Five while there is nothing comparable on the Universal side.

@TangaroaJoel More broadly, I think these are a stupid product, esp in high traffic uses like theme parks. Solar compactors at point of disposal are dumb; solar compactors at point of collection make more sense. These follow logic that appeals only 2 corporate suits that want 2 hire less ppl.

Alright, let’s talk trash. Those new trash cans at WDW are from Bigbelly and were first introduced to the market in 2005. Far from a new concept. 1/10
