@StaceyJSpiehler I went to HS and college in AL and there were never any events for Lee. AL also commemorates confederate memorial day in April and Jefferson Davis’ birthday in June.

BVG missed an opportunity.

As I walked to the train station this morning with my 15 year old, she told me about a boy who has a crush on her. Before I could ask any questions, she said, “He’s so nice, but Mom—he doesn’t like science or believe dinosaurs ever existed.” Me: “Oh.” 😨😬 Her: “Exactly.”

Last summer, I told the kids I wanted to visit Copenhagen for our next adventure. We’ve never been to Denmark, and I’ve dreamed of seeing Bertel Thorvaldsen’s Christus for years. But life has a way of reshaping plans—work, school, major illnesses, and packed schedules have kept us from traveling. On Friday, I came home from work to the sweetest surprise from my 13-year-old. Using his 3D printer, he had made me a miniature Christus. As he handed it to me, he said, “I thought you might like this until we can go and see it in person.” Being known and loved by my kids makes the waiting easier, and this little gift keeps me looking forward to Copenhagen someday.

Me: “I don’t think we should start the puzzle and leave it out overnight because the cats might ruin it.” Husband: “The cats won’t get on the table. It’ll be fine.”
