I asked Claude to build my daughter an app that plugs into our piano, can read live key strokes, can show her sheet notes and key view and ends with a Guitar Hero style game. All while giving progressively harder songs. Today she’s using It and crushing It.

I signed up for Claude to see what the fuss was about. I fed it an essay I’ve written for a peer reviewed journal and asked it to structure it to a talk. Safe to say, if I gave this talk, I would have a career in a management consultancy, certainly not in the humanities.

@davidclowery Art that is being produced by Hollywood or recording studios or anywhere else is not meeting the needs of all consumers. Consumers with niche tastes can't just demand that human artists make what they are looking for. But they can demand that from AI.

Seriously, what is the "steelman" argument for how generative/prompt music AI is good for artists, consumers or even streaming services. It just seems all around awful. Why is there a commercial push for something no one wants?

A fake “original album” of mine, containing music that sounds like it was generated by a generative AI app, has been released on music streaming services — even though I never created anything like that. I’m extremely confused, not because it seems AI‑generated, but because it was released under my name without my permission.😡 Looking at the track titles, I can see references to Sonic music, so is someone from the Sonic fan community doing this? Maybe the community is just very interested in AI‑generated creativity?🤔
