I often get asked by other artists how to get noticed by certain galleries/platforms or how to become part of them. My advice: connect directly with the platforms you’re genuinely interested in. Reach out and let them know why you appreciate what they’re doing and how your work aligns with their vision. Don’t just drop art in their DMs. Instead, politely ask if they’re open to reviewing proposals from new artists. More often than not, they’re happy to take a look. If they are open to reviewing your proposal, make sure it looks professional, but keep it simple and clear. I recommend creating a short PDF that includes: -A brief bio about who you are and why you make the work you do -A concise explanation of the concept or narrative behind the series -A small selection of your strongest pieces from that body of work -Make sure the proposal looks good, pay attention to basic graphic design, and give it a cohesive theme. If you’re not familiar with design principles, learn them, or use a creative platform with presentation templates that match your style. IMO, there’s nothing worse than a poorly designed presentation. Or you can build a clean and simple website to showcase the same info. It’s easier than ever and gives your proposal a dedicated, accessible space. Bottom line: there’s a ton of art on the timeline. Algorithms miss things. Platforms are often focused on promoting artists already in their ecosystem. That’s why you have to be PROACTIVE. If you truly want to be part of a gallery/platform, make sure they know that. And if it doesn’t work out? No stress...you’ve now got a beautiful, polished PDF or site you can send to another gallery/platform that does align with your work. Go out and get it.
