@algo_luca I love that you zoomed right in on this. My initial look was just hunches and guesswork (as I'm sure it's clear from the article). Even after all that happened, I can't confidently say this _was actually_ fragmentation, though it seems likely 😅 I want proof.

It also highlights how Rust doesn't have a great story (yet?) when it comes to memory analysis—i.e. take a heap dump and analyze what's going on in there.

The article is definitely worth a read. It'd be nice to bave contextual allocators, instead of an exclusively global switch. E.g. use a Vec<u8> as backing memory for all transient allocations within a request lifecycle. It might make some of these issues less likely.
