Caribou, like Zaza and Imu, has that same permanent triple-circle Ring Eyes design. His epithet is 濡れ"髪"のカリブー: Wet-Haired Caribou And in Japanese, “髪 hair” and “神 god” are both pronounced "kami" 濡れ"神"のカリブー: A Wet God Caribou On top of that, Caribou may also partly play a role similar to "Susanoo", the god of storms and the sea in Japanese mythology. If Luffy is the Sun God Nika, and that links him to "Amaterasu", the sun goddess in Japanese myth, then Blackbeard—who seems to have a connection to the moon—starts to line up with "Tsukuyomi", the moon god. In Japanese mythology, Susanoo is the sibling of Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, but he’s always a troublesome figure, constantly causing chaos. So the fact that Caribou, who possesses information about the “Ancient Weapons named after gods,” moves back and forth between the Straw Hat crew and the Blackbeard Pirates makes him feel strangely reminiscent of that kind of troublesome god, which is pretty interesting. So Caribou must also be a key character 🏴‍☠️
