Fun Facts... It Costs Aldi about $1.5-3M to Open a New Store The 5 New York City Run Grocery Stores are budgeted at $60M total The First Store actually has a $30M Budget to Open This is after the city will own the sites, waive rent and property taxes, and partner with third-party operators while subsidizing to keep prices lower. So with a TON of regulations waived, costs absorbed by the tax payers, the project still has a 10x budget,(which they will go way over)

NYC Mayor Mamdani announced on Sunday that his administration will build a city-run grocery store on city-owned land in East Harlem. He says he “looks forward to the competition” of battling against corporations. But what he’s failing to say is that small grocery stores, which need to make a profit to survive, will be the ones that suffer when faced with a city-run grocery store that isn’t necessarily funded by what it sells. It’s a lose/lose. Other U.S. cities (and other countries) have tried to make city-run grocery stores work. They’ve all failed, so many don’t even try anymore. Mayor Brandon Johnson in Chicago bailed on his plan to open city-run grocery stores after public criticism and feasibility concerns. Some of the consistent problems with these kinds of grocery stores are long lines, shortages, lack of variety, outdated products, corruption, bad customer service, and inefficiency. New York City also doesn’t really have a demand for these grocery stores. There are over 1,000 grocery stores already in NYC, most within walking distance. The bigger stores have sophisticated systems and are able to negotiate lower prices by buying in volume. City-run stores can’t do this since there are always so few of them if any. So these stores end up operating at a loss and failing. It’s always the same result. Mamdani is naive and will fail. He already has with almost everything he’s tried to do. Instead of coming up with new positive solutions or implementing old successful strategies, he’s going with old failed ideas. Socialism has never worked. It never will. (nbcnewyork on TT)

Zohran Mamdani announces he will open his first communist grocery store in New York next year: “I am proud to announce that we will open every single one of these stores by the end of our first term, and the first one will open next year.”

The number of jobs needed to keep US unemployment stable has collapsed: Minimum monthly job gains needed to hold unemployment steady are down to an average -3,000 per month. The breakeven rate has collapsed from ~250,000 per month in mid-2023, driven by a decline in net immigration. Net unauthorized immigration turned negative in February 2025, then averaged -55,000 per month in the second half of 2025, as deportations and voluntary exits far exceeded new arrivals. As a result, total net unauthorized immigration for 2025 hit -548,000. Put simply, with fewer workers entering the labor force, the economy now needs far fewer jobs to keep the unemployment rate from rising. The US job market is facing a massive structural shift.

This is one of the most impressive archives in the history of American music. Aadam Jacobs taped 10,000+ shows in Chicago from 1984-2019. It’s all being digitized for the first time. Some of my favorites so far. Nels Cline and Jeff Parker (July 2006) The Feelies (March 1983) Uncle Tupelo (November 1992) R.E.M. (November 1987) Archers of Loaf (August 1994) Tim Easton (July 2006) The Wrens (January 2004) h/t @aidanshandle for this nifty player aadamjacobs.dunlap.ai

Good morning to everyone in Massachusetts who's tired of seeing billions poured into offshore wind and never seeing lower energy rates. Vineyard Wind just sued GE Renewables on Wednesday. They're saying GE plans to walk away from the 4.5 billion dollar offshore wind project by April 28, right in the critical final stage of bringing it fully online. If GE exits, Vineyard Wind warns the project will likely fail, leaving the wind farm stranded. At the center of the dispute, GE says Vineyard Wind owes them 300 million in unpaid claims. Vineyard Wind says GE owes them 800 million from years of delays and that catastrophic 2024 blade failure. This is exactly the kind of expensive drama we keep seeing with these green energy megaprojects that our ratepayers are ultimately on the hook for. How much more are we supposed to subsidize before Beacon Hill admits these things aren't delivering like they promised?

You are absolutely right, and that will be the long-term effort of any project like this. We are not going to impeach every corrupt judge. That is too complex and time-consuming. What we can do is force a political solution that creates a better process for holding judges accountable. That is what will produce institutional, lasting effects.

Once the numbers are available, it is possible to run an analysis to identify the fifty worst judges in America, meaning those who are putting the country and its citizens in severe danger. You go after those first fifty. You use whatever legal means are available to get them impeached. You investigate whether they have engaged in corruption. Whatever is within the scope of the law, you use to remove them from power. As people are removed from the list, you replace them with the next worst remaining, so the list always contains fifty. If you were to do this with a couple of wealthy sponsors, you would likely need a team of three or four people to handle the investigations and a lawyer to file suits. That effort would provide a significant service to America and Americans. Put the judiciary on notice.

I built CourtWatch.us — a free public database for American citizens who deserve safer communities. You can track which judges released defendants who then got rearrested, skipped court, or violated their release conditions. All public records. All free. I started with Orange County FL and will be expanding to all 67 Florida counties and eventually every state in the country. This first batch of info is from 2024 and since public reports are released in March/April for the previous year, data is behind. But I wanted to see if this is plausible. After adding 2024,I'll add 2025 and then figure out how to get real-time-data uploaded. It's in beta — would love to know what you think 👇 Numbers don't lie, but criminals do. courtwatch.us @bennyjohnson @jockowillink @GrantCardone @LauraLoomer @nickshirleyy @j_fishback

Elon Musk was right. The federal government was just writing checks to anyone who asked for years on end. ZERO Verification Requirements. Today, I confirmed a pattern: Dissolved business entities billing Medicaid at scale. In just one small batch, I’ve verified over $15MM. One was dissolved in 2011, yet between 2020-2024 it billed medicaid over $1.8MM. Our tax dollars are paying businesses dissolved over a decade ago. They don’t even check. They just send them money. It’s infuriating.

🚨 NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani just dropped a full-blown Marxist budget from hell. $127 BILLION — a “stunning record-high” — with billions funneled straight into diversity, equity, racial equity schemes, gender offices, migrant handouts, and “inclusion officers.” Meanwhile, he’s slashing NYPD funding and freezing rents like a true socialist. This disaster is nearly $10 BILLION MORE than the entire state of Florida’s budget… even though Florida has nearly 3 times the population of NYC. Mamdani isn’t governing New York — he’s running a Marxist experiment on America’s greatest city. Tax hikes, defund the police lite, endless woke spending while streets crumble. This is what socialism looks like in real time — and it’s coming for your wallet next. Trump was right: America rejects this radical left insanity. Wake up, NYC. Fire this socialist before it’s too late. Who else sees the disaster? 👇 #ZohranMamdani #MarxistMayor #SocialismFails #NYCBudget #AmericaFirst

FIVE YEARS OF GROCERY RECEIPTS JUST EXPOSED THE MOST PROTECTED LIE IN ECONOMICS. Since 2019, the government says cumulative inflation is about 25%. Here is what actually happened to the things you buy every single week: Eggs: +79% Ground beef: +77% Coffee: +68% Car insurance: +55% Electricity: +43% Bacon: +26% Bread: +24% Five out of seven of those are running 2x to 3x faster than the official number. And the only two that tracked near CPI? Bacon and bread. The lowest-cost, lowest-margin items in the basket. The things that actually drain a household budget, the protein, the energy, the insurance you are legally required to carry, those are the ones the official number keeps understating. The CPI was retooled in the 1990s to reduce reported inflation. They added substitution adjustments. They changed how they weight housing. They smoothed out the things that spike. This is documented BLS methodology, not conspiracy. Food overall is up 30% since end of 2019. Car insurance premiums up 54% since 2020. Electricity just hit all-time record prices. But the official line is 2.4% annual inflation and the Fed debates rate cuts. Your grocery receipt is the only honest inflation report left.

Today’s fresh hell: The same private equity termite that has rolled up much of the fire truck manufacturing industry has also rolled up the vast majority of the ambulance manufacturing industry — and it has spent the last several years cashing in: tripling the price of new ambulances, delaying deliveries for years on end, and fueling a preparedness crisis at EMS departments around the country.

🚨 BREAKING: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani just announced he wants to REDUCE the speed limit to 20 mph on every single street in New York City. And it isn’t about “safety” as he’d fool voters into believing. It’s about flooding the streets with more speed traps, more tickets, and way more revenue sucked straight out of drivers’ wallets. And guess what? That cash grab is exactly how he plans to bankroll his socialist wishlist. In a city where traffic already crawls slower than a rush-hour snail, this feels less like progress and more like a deliberate squeeze: make driving miserable, and keep the fines rolling in. Freedom of movement? Not on his watch.
