Next month my mother turns 80. This wise sage has been a clothing designer, a meticulous seamstress, a masterful hairdresser, community builder and even PTA president for four years while I was in high school. Truly, a woman of many gifts.
Her short-term memory isn’t as sharp as it once was, so I try to spend as much time as I can listening to her musings. This weekend I asked her what I was like as a little girl.
I am who I am because of her. And celebrating 80 years of her life feels like celebrating 80 years of strength, creativity, and love.

Visitei, ao lado de @janjalula, @vellosotatiana e @aniellefranco, a Cozinha Solidária e Comunitária do projeto MUS-E Brasil, parte das 250 cozinhas apoiadas pelo Programa Bahia Sem Fome. E olha que legal: a cozinha é um Pontão de Cultura!
🥘 Comida preparada com cuidado e compromisso é também um ato político, que dá dignidade ao povo!
Quando as pessoas têm o que comer, têm também mais esperança, mais saúde e mais oportunidade de seguir adiante. E a fome é combatida em conjunto, com união, respeito e políticas públicas que chegam na vida real.
Depois, seguimos para o Memorial Santa Dulce dos Pobres, no Bonfim. O espaço preserva a história e a obra dessa mulher extraordinária, com um acervo de mais de 800 peças.
O Memorial passou por uma requalificação viabilizada pela Lei Rouanet, garantindo que esse patrimônio siga aberto para inspirar e emocionar. 👏🏾
