@birdwoman1966 How do they prove the days? Can you “ rent” it to family for a £1 per night to get the days up. Not helpful fo the past but going forward?

We have 2 converted farm buildings on our farmyard that we let out to holidaymakers. We never hit the Welsh government’s recent target of letting them out for over 182 days a year (even though they’re available all year) because we’re inland, not in the coast. They’ve just sent us a backdated premium (additional 50%) council tax bill for the last three years. It’s over £26,000. I am seriously concerned for my husband’s mental health. We can’t pay that. We can’t sell them as they’re not suitable for permanent accommodation. We can’t rent them out as they’re not classed as permanent accommodation. What the actual fuck are we meant to do here?!!

20 UK DEFENCE INVESTMENT PRIORITIES 1. Rebuild munition stockpiles across all three services 2. Ensure that the Dreadnought SSBN programme is delivered on schedule 3. Acquire a ballistic missile defence system 4. Get on with the Type 45 destroyer PIP 5. Acquire additional land-based SkySabre Air Defence systems (minimum of 48 launch sets) 6. Equip all three forces with a full range of UAS, UGV, USV, and UUV for surveillance and strike tasks 7. Order 4 additional Type 26 frigates 8. Ensure that all 7 Astute Class attack submarines are ready and deployable 9. Ensure that GCAP / Tempest is fully funded 10. Accelerate the Bowman replacement programme, including investment in AI and a Starlink equivalent satellite system 11. Accelerate programme to replace Crowsnest with a UAS-mounted AEW&C system 12. Continue to invest in Boxer, including artillery version, but refocus it around 1st (UK) so that we field fully deployable brigades sooner (See note below) 13. Invest in land-based SHORAD including Stormer HVM replacement and 35 mm cannon system. 14. Invest in a wheeled GMLRS system like HIMARS 15. Fund development of a UK equivalent of GMLRS ER and PrSM 16. Loan or lease 5 additional C-17A transport aircraft from wherever we can (or buy 10 additional A400M) 17. Ensure that at least 4 Multi-Role Strike Ships are funded for the Commando Force 18. Acquire 24 additional F-35B to provide a surge capacity for the carriers and to reduce attrition risk 19. Increase Army headcount to 80,000, and Navy headcount to 35,000 20. ……(What have I missed?) (Note: I’m an advisor to KNDS so my Boxer recommendation (No. 12) is not impartial - but I still think it is the right thing to do!)

1. So during my time I have managed maintenance packages on RN warships, trials packages, done deployments and arranged my Department, WE, to be ready to go at short notice on Ops. So in no particular order, why deployment preps take a while.

@Gunbust09696378 @bealejonathan WO ME and WO WE? I was a ME and in the SCC for specials so only heard it however many 100’s of times. Finish with main engines revert to 4/12/24/48 hours notice for sea. Never even with 2 of the DGs in bits was it more than 48 hours. But what ever shippers

Notice for Sea can be whatever you want. If you are in maint it's say 48 until you do a DG top overhaul when it goes out to 96 then when completed down to 48. Main leave can be out to 72. Deammoed for welding near a mag that will increase it. I was an NBCDQ, WOME SME, OOQ, as well as WO WE So I do kind of know what I am on about.

Not even the top story on the BBC. Yet had this been a deficit, it would’ve been wall to wall coverage. UK government records £30billion surplus, in January, the best since 1993. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Allocating at least Type 26 frigate ship 3 (HMS Belfast) to 🇳🇴Norway was always going to happen - as part of the deal they stipulated their first vessel in service by 2029. Not great for RN but definitely worth it for strategic benefits. After all the RNN will use them to do much the same as RN - ie hunt Russian submarines in High North. The real problem for RN would be if UK also reallocated ships 4&5 to Norway. This is a very tempting option for Treasury as saves substantial money without usual industrial impact of such a big cut/mega delay. Pressure must be maintained on UK govt to ensure a balanced distribution of ship delivery between the 2 navies and above all, the RN gets the 8 it was promised. Note: BAES say that they can reduce build time to about 66 months after ship 5.

@CraigMurrayOrg Out of curiosity, if a member of your family was struck intentionally on their back whilst at work by a person with a sledgehammer. How would you feel towards to person who did it and how would you like to see them dealt with?

@MartinSLewis It’s seems the amount of grant is “added” to the cost. There is no way an ASHP is £9k. It just boosts profits of installers and manufactures

I'm being asked what I think of the Warm Home funding plans announced today to allow everyone to improve home energy efficiency. This is the statement I put out on it... “Improving housing stock through energy efficiency done right is a good long-term route to reduce energy bills. Yet it’s staggering how many times we’ve seen governments badly cock up ‘available to everyone’ schemes over the last decade or so - from the ‘Green Deal’ to the ‘Green Home Grant’. They were overly complex, poorly designed, and as user-friendly as a self-assembly wardrobe with no instructions. “Simple interest-free loans (or very low interest) are an easier concept. It means those who don’t have lump sums but can make savings from these measures can get on with it. And while people looking at fitting batteries, solar panels and other home efficiency measures today will be disappointed that nowt practical will likely happen until 2027, at least it means there’s time for them to consult and hopefully get it right. We’ll be looking to feed in to try and help them avoid past problems.”

From April, we're raising the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage. The cost of living is the number one issue people are facing, with too many struggling to make ends meet. I am determined to tackle it.
