I am not against of anything but lately I have realised foreign maintainers are more cool and chill than the Indian maintainers.

I love my Gen-Z maintainer. while everyone post on linkedln in formal way, i did in my way and I thought my organisation will not like this that's why I didn't tag anyone but somehow my LFX maintainer saw my post and he read my post and commented😭

I was rejected from GSoC 2025 because my project didn’t get a slot.
But my contributions mattered, my org still selected for a similar program and this year I’ve been invited to mentor in the same org.
So, if you weren’t selected, keep contributing something better is waiting.

Guys, my whole timeline is filled with GSoC selection posts — congrats to all of them.
I just thought to share something. One of my juniors, whom I know very well, has an early-stage startup and good connections with many people. He has attended international hackathons, so he genuinely has strong connections.
One day, he posted on WhatsApp that he got selected as a mentor in GSoC, and he was also selected as a mentor in Smart India Hackathon previously. But he has never been a participant in these competitions, nor has he won them.
I always used to think that people who qualify in these competitions are the ones eligible to become mentors.
And the worst part is, I know him personally because I was part of his team before he literally doesn’t have strong enough skills for us to say he justifies it purely on the basis of skill.
I don’t know what criteria these organizations and compitition have. Just wanted to share that if you have strong connections, you can reach places you never even thought of.
