It is Women's History Month and each day I am looking at Canadian women who have left their mark on our history. Today, it is Marie-Anne Gaboury, the Grandmother of the Red River, and the grandmother of Louis Riel. 🧵1/8

I’m fiercely proud of being from Saskatoon. Today four of us from the city received the King Charles III Coronation Medals. Dr. Norman Fleury, Elder Louise Bernice Halfe-Sky Dancer, Samson LaMontagne were all recognized in the Reconciliation category. Incredibly important work.

One of my favourite parts of today’s ceremony was reconnecting with Samson LaMontagne. He played @HuskieAthletics 🏀 in the mid-2000s. I was broadcasting the games. Today he was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for preserving and revitalizing the Michif language.
