@AmericanAir please learn from Deltas idiocy and do not get Amazon Leo. Starlink is the only reasonable option

Exciting news: @Delta is teaming up with Amazon Leo for faster, low latency Wi-Fi! Initial rollout will be on 500 jets starting in 2028. Hopefully, Delta decides to ditch Viasat and Hughes and go all-in on Leo bc the speeds are just so much better.

Announcing that one day you will be competitive is not exactly the opening shot in an arms race. If DL are starting installs in 2028 and targeting an initial fleet of 500, when do we think they will actually have 500 equipped aircraft? Meanwhile, I am regularly using Starlink service on my United flights *today*. DL is behind, but they can take comfort that at least AA is behind-er.

NEWS: Delta is partnering with Amazon Leo (Starlink competitor) to soup up free onboard Wi-Fi. Airline plans to have 500 jets equipped in 2028. Comes three years after Delta launched free Wi-Fi - from Viasat. Now, we're in an inflight Wi-Fi arms race. news.delta.com/delta-amazon-l…

@TrungTPhan This is so laughable wrong. On almost every detail. The refinery has cost them hundreds of millions of dollars, they cant sell it because literally no one will buy it. The refining margin is miniscule and doesnt change crude being high. What a dumb fucking post

TIL Delta Airlines owns an oil refinery that saves it costs on jet fuel: ▫️in 2012, bought Pennsylvania-based refiner from ConocoPhillips for $150m (and spent $100m to upgrade) ▫️fuel is 20-30% of operating cost and the investment paid back within 5 years (Delta’s subsidiary is called Monroe Energy) ▫️only airline in America to own a refinery ▫️as of 2026, none of the major US airlines are hedging oil prices…had been unprofitable to do so and now just pass prices on to customers ▫️refines 200k barrels a day…half for jet fuel (rest is gas and diesel, which it then sells to buy or trades for more jet fuel) ▫️supplies 75%+ of Delta’s domestic fuel needs ▫️refinery business is still cyclical and Delta bet has taken some Ls (eg. during COVID, it lost $140m just in Q2 2020) ▫️Delta briefly considered selling operation ▫️Refinery booming again in recent years: sales of $5B in 2025 (~8% of Delta’s total sales) and saved 4 cents a gallon on jet fuel (~$100m cost savings) ▫️of refined products, jet fuel is highest margin and year round demand (gas in most demand summer driving season; diesel in fall and winter) ▫️ now, crack spread on jet fuel (price difference oil vs. refined products) has shot up since Iran war and refining operation in solid position on that front for foreseeable future *** AJC: ajc.com/business/2026/… NYT article from 2020: nytimes.com/2020/08/10/bus…

@Selene_Mariposa Basic economy is ineligible for upgrades unless its an elite upgrade. The are ineligible to board before you unless they have status.

I’m Executive Platinum. Platinum Pro for life. I carry the credit card. I gave this airline 20 years and more money than I care to calculate. And I board third. Behind the people who bought Basic Economy and paid $50 for the upgrade I used to earn with loyalty. Group 1 on American Airlines is the angriest boarding group in America. We spent years earning status. We flew the red-eyes. We took the connections. We sat through the delays. We chose AA over cheaper options because loyalty was supposed to mean something. Then American decided our upgrade was worth $50 to a guy in flip-flops who booked on Kayak an hour ago. That’s not a revenue strategy. That’s a betrayal with a boarding pass. Four hours on American in 2026: the flight attendants get up twice. Once for drinks. Once for trash. That’s it. They sit behind the curtain for three and a half hours like they’re in witness protection. This isn’t a one-time thing. This is standard operating procedure. Ask anyone in Group 1. I spend $50,000 a year on other airlines now. Alaska treats my status like a gift. Delta flight attendants have that southern charm and work the cabin like they want to be there. Cathay puts me in a flat bed with pajamas. JAL treats a domestic flight like a ceremony. Qatar practically bows. Every single oneworld partner honors my loyalty better than the airline that issued it. I used to sell to AA. Back in the day they were the gold standard. The crews took pride. The operation ran tight. Now the flight attendants act like YOU are the inconvenience. AA international is a domestic airline cosplaying as a global carrier. Outdated product. Nonexistent service. Lounges that embarrass the alliance. Other than Spirit — which isn’t an airline, it’s a hostage situation with wings — is there a worse carrier in America? When an Executive Platinum boards third, gets two cabin visits in four hours, and spends $50K everywhere except AA — that’s not a preference change. That’s a divorce. I don’t hate American Airlines. I’m disappointed in them. After 20 years, that’s worse. Fix the upgrades. Fix the boarding. Fix the service. Fix the attitude. Or keep selling my seat to flip-flop guy for $50 while your best customers spend $50,000 somewhere else. Write that down, Robert Isom. Now I want yours. Drop your worst AA story below. Everyone who’s flown American has one. Tag @AmericanAir. Let them see what their best customers actually think.

This is how to lose customers. @AmericanAir had a maintenance issue and rebooked me for tomorrow. I asked for a supervisor so they transferred me to a queue with no one in it, probably hoping I just leave the queue which I guess is my only option.

LOT Polish Airlines announced that they started installing Wi-Fi onboard their B787 fleet. Installing Viasat in 2026 when Starlink exists is something I can't comprehend. Good luck sending a single email before landing.
