If you want to know why @Waymo is no longer testing in NYC, this statement says it all: “Our top priority for AV testing is public safety and, as the mayor has made clear, any AV policy decisions will center workers and their well-being,” - Vin Barone, a spokesperson for DOT

I find this constant effort to recruit small business owners — the single most right-wing demographic — as anchor points of progressive economic policy to be fairly bizarre. x.com/ddayen/status/…

Franchise owners have become less like independent businessmen and more like a badly treated employee stripped of all their rights. @dorajfacundo reviews a new book on how franchisors put this legal regime in place. prospect.org/2026/04/10/apr…

No money for your health care because it’s needed to prop up pro-Russian parties in Central Europe.

@aGuyOnMyPhone @hecubian_devil If you're working on a code based with continually added features/improvements it's inevitable that bugs will get introduced. Good architecture is necessary for making debugging as easy possible.

@therealpauldahl @hecubian_devil It’s not like the code suffers wear and tear. If the code “stops working” it’s because it’s encountering an edge case that it doesn’t accommodate. But the amount that is a potential problem entirely depends on what you’re using Claude Code for

@hecubian_devil Basically just ask it what tools it recommendeds you use for whatever you're trying to do and then Google them and see if they have a MCP/Agents section in the documentation and just follow that.

@hecubian_devil Ironicly enough the AI will do a great job recommending you what tools to use for what you need to do, and now-a-days most libraries have mcp servers you can configure the agent to use so it has access to all the documentation.

@hecubian_devil I think the natural question is whether that matters. Like could a human write more efficient code or more elegant code? Yeah for sure! But does the project still work?

@jmontforttx Literally the only thing keeping me from buying an EV is how long they take to charge. If I could get one to fully charge in less than 10 minutes I'd go buy one right now

@StatisticUrban I genuinely don't think the president should have either pardon or veto power tbh. Both have always felt like an imbalance in the separation of powers.

@LzSeishi @fedtanyl I'm skeptical the market would properly meet the needs of child education in poor rural areas tbh. I don't see a k-12 school with class sizes of 30ish kids being something the private sector would meaningfully invest in at scale.

Accidentally a great illustration of a basic fact: conservative influencers are EXTREMELY performative and rely on faux outrage to drive the base's anger. It's all just reaction. Nothing real. They don't want to make anything, they just want to tear what exists down.

@micah_erfan A problem Democrats face in the media landscape is that conservatives media will *always* say the democratic candidate is soft on crime. A Democrat could adopt, bar-for-bar, the Republican ideal approach to crime and Conservative media would still call the Democrat soft on crime.
