You and I are the average football fan and i believe that we have the mental capacity to handle explanations from paid professionals over why they gave completely different decisions without a referees safety being in jeopardy, I also think we deserve them. Teenagers are rolled out every week in front of cameras to explain decisions so why can’t referees? If they don’t then nobody can complain about the fact that people won’t be charitable with their conclusions. The only people that know the answers to these questions refuse to give them and then complain that fans speculate unkindly, what else did they think would happen? Fans are the only ones who aren’t being paid to be there yet they’re treated with total contempt for having the audacity to assume that anything they think matters. Fans pay an absolute fortune to watch games decided by players on the field, not by officials with out of control egos. Egos that we are responsible for by infantilizing them and by turning them in to celebrities. Nobody expects perfection from them and we know it’s a hard job but that’s why they’re paid professionals. The game is being absolutely destroyed by officiating

The VAR wanted a closer look at a potential hair pull by Dominic Calvert-Lewin on Marc Cucurella... Nothing doing. The Leeds United forward had his hair pulled by Manchester United Lisandro Martinez at Old Trafford — the Argentinian was shown a red card... 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗹. Modern football.

The president of the Norwegian football association has called for the abolition of the FIFA Peace Prize, which was awarded to U.S. president Donald Trump, and says she supports an ethics complaint against Gianni Infantino, the president of world football’s governing body.
Lise Klaveness, who will represent her federation at the FIFA Congress on Thursday and is on the UEFA executive committee, said the organisation should maintain “an arm’s length distance” from world leaders.
Trump was given the Peace Prize by Infantino at the draw for this summer’s World Cup in Washington D.C. on December 6.
The prize was announced by FIFA in November — without prior approval from its board, the FIFA Council — in order “to reward individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world”.
Klaveness believes that FIFA, which is supposed to remain politically neutral, does not have the “mandate” nor resources to give out a Peace Prize.

🚨🎙️ Thierry henry on Calvert lewin RED Card being waved of!! ❌
Listen, you have to laugh because if you don’t, you’ll go crazy. We’re sitting here in 2026, with all this technology, all these cameras, and we’re still seeing 'selective blindness' from the officials.
I saw the Calvert-Lewin incident, It’s clear as day it’s violent conduct, it’s a red card in any league in the world.
But the VAR looks at it, and they decide it’s just 'footballing contact.' Right, okay. When Lisandro Martinez does it he got booked, Why? Because he’s wearing a Manchester United shirt, he’s got that aggressive edge that the media loves to paint as 'dangerous.'
It’s disgraceful, it’s amateur, and it’s about time someone called it what it is, a total lack of integrity in how these games are being called. We aren't asking for favors. We don’t want the refs to help us. We just want the same 17 laws of the game that everyone else gets to use! But right now, there’s a clear bias.
