If illegal immigrants are not "subject to the jurisdiction of the United States" under what authority can the federal government deport them? This is the problem with living constitutionalism and consequentialism, it seeks to craft constitutional law that is a tangle of knots, twists, and turns to wrest the foundational document of our republic toward whatever fancy the zeitgeist arrives at. The originalist path not only makes more sense but actually accomplishes the whole point of having a written constitution...the consistent application of the rule of law according to text, history, and tradition.

@JustinWStapley This is nonsense Justin. United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898) established birthright citizenship by ignoring that phrase. The case was really sad and I'm sure they were looking for a way to be nice. It just was never Constitutional.

@BitcoinUndisc “Only Christianity says you are glorious ruins — magnificent in origin, catastrophically broken, and incapable of fixing yourself.” That bit of prose left me a bit speechless.

This is the story that separates me from every other candidate who claims to be pro-gun. The City of Sandpoint banned firearms at the Festival at Sandpoint, a public event on public property. I didn't write an angry letter. I sued. I took the case all the way to the Idaho Supreme Court. We lost on a legal technicality. Most politicians would have walked away. I went to the Idaho Senate and LEGISLATED the fix — SB 1374 closed the legal loophole that the court exploited. I turned a legal defeat into a legislative victory. That is not rhetoric. That is results. #idleg #idpol

I criticized Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei a thousand times. He was oppressing his own people and preventing democracy. But there’s one thing you can’t take away from him, he died on his own two feet, instead of kneeling to Israel. That took courage. He didn’t bow.

@DustinvEveryone Someone has to win every legislative race. In Idaho it's almost always a Republican. Good job Idaho.

I can't wait for Brian Almon to write a 44,000 word faux think piece explaining how every legislative race can be won. It will be brilliant drivel.

@BrentFRegan I was present at the 8/26/25 meeting in which Guenette announced VDH had declined and she would try to get Gaetz. Not 4 names. One. Gaetz. No vote, no voice vote, no straw poll, no hand raise, no input allowed by the chair. Brent's claims in this article contradict the facts.

Matt Gaetz on the Agenda The process for selecting the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee’s Lincoln Day speaker is straightforward. Our Lincoln Day sub-committee researched possible speakers that would be available and whose honorarium would be within budget. Last year it was suggested that we get Tucker Carlson, which sounded like a great idea until we were told that Tucker comes with a $250,000 price tag plus a private jet. So we didn’t get Tucker… This year the Lincoln Day committee developed a list of four potential speakers that was presented to the central committee during our regular meeting in September. Lincoln Day Chairman Beverly Guenette asked to vote by a show of hands as she read each of the four names so the committee could pursue the most popular candidate. Victor Davis Hansen had the most support followed by Matt Gaetz. In the following weeks it was determined that Mr. Hansen would not be available so the Lincoln Day committee negotiated a discounted speaking fee with the Gaetz representative and signed a contract so that marketing materials could be developed. At the October KCRCC meeting Lincoln Day Chairman Guenette made the announcement that we had successfully negotiated to have Matt Gaetz as our speaker. The announcement was met with applause. At the next regular meeting in November one member of the central committee who is affiliated with the North Idaho “Republicans” and is a frequent critic of the KCRCC, attempted to raise a motion to reconsider our speaker. This failed for several reasons; it wasn’t posted on the agenda, the committeeman had ample prior notice over several meetings that Gaetz was being considered, and that a legal contract had been already signed. You can tell a lot about a situation by who is present to watch. It was clear that the committeeman’s concerns were not genuine or personal because if they were they would have been raised months before. No, this was a fumbling attempt to embarrass the KCRCC with a pearl clutching moment of fake indignation by members of the North Idaho “Republicans,” an organization that recently hosted a speaker who famously doxed a rape victim. Was the committee aware of the controversy surrounding the firebrand Mr. Gaetz and the swamp’s efforts to drive him from politics? You would have to be living under a rock not to be, but people have a right to hear both sides. Fair minded people know that in today’s polarized world hearing the story from the media is at best only half the truth. Before making a rational determination, honest people want all the information. As for the argument that giving Matt Gaetz the opportunity to speak is somehow immoral, I would point out that if someone doesn’t want you to hear both sides what they are actually doing is trying to prevent you from hearing the truth because their position is in fact a lie. This year’s Lincoln Day is shaping up to be a record setting event with ticket sales and sponsorships up 17% over last year. There will be great speakers, lots of giveaways, phenomenal auction items and a top shelf surf and turf three course dinner served to your table. Apparently this year the Idaho Democrats will be hosting Tim Walz, the governor and failed VP candidate who had billions in fraud happen under his watch. Republicans won’t be protesting that event. If the Democrats want to be inspired by a loser, who are we to object? Fair minded people can hear both sides and not be forced to agree with either. It’s just common sense.

@JonGuze Huge changes in the FBI HRT, in both policy and tactics. And the military refused thereafter to lend military vehicles to federal law enforcement.

I think the Minnesota ICE episode has had a similar impact upon the American people as the images of armored vehicles surrounding the burning compound in WACO once did. Regardless of the justifications or the behavior of the belligerents, the American people has witnessed a level of militancy from federal law enforcement that simply flies in the face of what we expect in our society. I think a line has been crossed, and there will be changes moving forward.

Crash Party "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" Shakespeare I had a laugh out loud moment when I heard who the North Idaho RINOs (NIR) invited to speak at THEIR event later this month. It’s both funny and disturbing if you know the backstory. The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) is the official Republican Party and we host the best Lincoln Day Dinner in the state, attended by 500+ true Idaho Republicans. The dinner, held at The Resort, starts with a VIP reception with hosted bar and hors d’oeuvres for the table sponsors. Everyone enjoys a delicious three course dinner including salad, Surf ‘n Turf and our exciting Dessert Dash. Every guest has multiple chances to win several guns and other prizes and will vote for the winner of the student speech contest. This year’s speakers include BOCC Chairman Bruce Mattare, State Party Chairman Dorothy Moon, US Representative Russ Fulcher, US Senator Jim Risch, Attorney General Raul Labrador and former Congressman Matt Gaetz. Our goal is to have every guest enjoy a good meal, hear interesting speakers and have a great and memorable evening celebrating our nation’s 250 birthday. Go to kcrcc.com for tickets. We all know that outspoken conservative Republicans are targets for false accusations of improper behavior. Roy Moore, Brett Kavanaugh, Curtis Hill, Pete Hegseth, Matt Schlapp, Herman Cain, Donald Trump and Matt Gaetz have all faced false accusations; accusations that conveniently arise at critical moments and then quickly evaporate when their usefulness has passed. NIR spokesmen and their Democrat allies are morally preening claiming that having Matt Gaetz speak at Lincoln Day is “wrong” for Republican values and that they will boycott, as if they would have actually bought tickets. Last time I checked, innocent until proven guilty is a foundational Republican value. Guilt by accusation is a Democrat thing. Gaetz has never been charged, let alone convicted of anything. The drug addicted prostitute accuser dropped her civil suit because of an overwhelming lack of credibility. Gaetz explained during a Tucker Carlson interview that it all started as an extortion plot against his father and ballooned from there. It is a fascinating story and one you should hear firsthand before passing judgment. For all their pretend moral superiority the NIR gang has asked David Leroy to be the speaker at their event. Leroy is a Boise lawyer, former Lt. Governor and former Attorney General who likes to play dress up as Abraham Lincoln and pretend he’s the 16th President. That doesn’t sound bad…yet. In 2021 Leroy was the attorney defending convicted rapist Aaron von Ehlinger. That sounds bad, but every person who is accused deserves a vigorous defense. What Leroy did do was to dox the rape victim by sending her file to reporter Bill Spence at the Lewiston Tribune. THAT is bad. It’s an ethics violation that would get most lawyers disbarred. It is so bad that Representative Priscilla Giddings was charged with a House Ethics Violation just because she included a link to the Lewiston Tribune article in her newsletter. I am sure the fact that Speaker of the House Scott Bedke and Giddings were both running for Lt. Governor had NOTHING to do with Giddings being charged. Leroy releasing the identity of a 19 year old rape victim is not an accusation, it is a documented fact. So what happened to Leroy? The same thing that happens to every well connected establishment RINO. Nothing. Not even a slap on the wrist. What David Leroy does get is an NIR invitation to play Lincoln dress up. Before you pass judgment, hear both sides. It’s the Republican thing to do. It’s just common sense. Bonus question: What do you call a herd of RINOs? A Crash.

@BrentFRegan Brent forgot to mention his support of the now convicted rapist. But he does imply that he continues to support the legislators that defended the rapist all the way down. Sort of on brand for the guy who invited Gaetz to keynote a fundraiser. ethics.house.gov/wp-content/upl… #idpol

@BrentFRegan Brent left out that Gaetz blamed the Jews. Not just an extortion plot, a *Jewish* extortion plot. This fits as Brent has invited Dave Reilly to resell tickets to his Lincoln Day dinner to his neo-Nazi fan base. At least Brent, Gaetz, & Reilly will have something to talk about.

@DustinvEveryone I, a conservative, was very clear about it. Pressure put on IFF led to Ron doing the right thing. As someone who *worked* there, if you have a moral backbone, seems like you could have at least talked to someone about it. x.com/therussmann/st…

Why won't Chairman Brent Regan of KCRCC and IFF denounce white supremacy? Why won't Wayne Hoffman? Because they agree with Dave Reilly, who they are both paying using money donated to them. Are you paying for this? web.archive.org/web/2020011017… #idpol
