Sandro Gozi, head of the EU-UK Parliamentary Assembly, told Brussels it must end its “obsession with carve-outs” explicitly including the euro and said the old British rebate that slashed contributions by two-thirds would not be coming back. Gozi admitted rejoining could be fast-tracked because of the UK’s existing alignment and institutional memory, calling it a “victory for Europe as a whole.” The intervention comes as senior Labour figures Wes Streeting and Andy Burnham openly talk of reversing Brexit, while Keir Starmer pushes for a major EU summit this summer to deepen ties. Labour’s manifesto still rules out rejoining the single market or customs union and insists free movement remains a red line. Brussels is already signalling the true price of any full reset. And critics are already saying if they betray Brexit then we need a general election as this was NOT in Labours manifesto that they were elected on.

Freedom of movement. Do you remember that? The time when we could all choose to live and work in the EU as easily in Berlin as Brighton, Paris or Plymouth, Madrid as Manchester, Lisbon or London.
