Sunderland away was the 123rd game for @ChelseaFC in the last 21 months. They've played in every month in between. All criticism has to take this schedule stupidity into account. Oh hang on... 5 pre-season games on other side of world. Someone in the club clearly doesn't care

@greateranglia Thanks Keira - that option is not made available when buying via @trainpal_go , I don't think. Is the phone line meant to be working? If not... then... it's impossible?!

Just throwing it out there that the lane is wiiiiiiiiide open for a tech company to get insanely rich by just replicating the 2010 version of big websites like Google while explicitly stating that they hate AI.

Scraping websites and having AI summarize them, so that no one visits the websites, is theft. Training AI on videos, so that it can make new videos that compete with them, is theft. We are witnessing the largest theft of creative work in history.

To be fair, if you’d told me the last time Arsenal won the league that by the time they win another one Chelsea will have won 5 leagues, 5 Fa Cups, 2 club world cups and 6 European trophies 2 of which were Champions Leagues, I would’ve probably taken it.

Any talk of Ed Miliband being prime minister just shows the Westminster bubble is even more removed from reality than we previously thought.

Let’s see, do I want a man who lives modestly within his means with the exact same kind of lifestyle as everyone I know and respect, or would I prefer someone who has big houses bought for him by shady expat billionaires for opaque reasons? Decisions, decisions.
The Despatch Box@UKDispatchBox

Do you think a man in is 40s in a rented house share is fit to lead a country? He's likely never had to manage a household or make tough financial decisions. He's living like a student and his politics are like that of a student union, angry and thinks the rich are at fault for everything. He'd be better suited to be the leader of a union. They are just a protest party, they cannot run a country.

@SteveReedMP Steve - the 5 million leaseholders (and anyone else who knows about leasehold) know you have strangled the housing market by not fulfilling your manifesto promises. All these social posts are pointless, when you abandon so many voters so cheaply.

Increasing long-term investment in social housing. Speeding up remediation to make buildings safer. Making things fairer for millions of leaseholders. Transferring power out of Westminster. Protecting our democracy. This government is delivering for the public.

There’s a thing that happens in politics discourse where people act like it’s the principle of a transgression that matters rather than the scale, so a scandal about £5k is the same as one about £5m. I categorically reject that. A scandal about £5m is A THOUSAND TIMES BIGGER.
Owen Jones@owenjonesjourno

@LukasMikelionis @DanNeidle @paulpowlesland Dominic Cummings had an unpaid council tax bill of up to £50,000 relating to multiple properties (he was then allowed not to pay). This is people living in fucking boats who clearly by precedent don't pay council tax. If you think that's equivalent then you are beyond moronic!

What we crave is an old-school government so boring no-one knows their names. Competent, professional. But we're led by a story-hungry media desperate for new drama for sponsored podcasts. If they had their way we'd have a new PM every month, each worse than the last.

Please do. If it's "accepted multimillion bung from dodgy expat billionaire" we'll know who it is. If it's "Did shady deal with neo-Fascist techbro" we'll know who it is. If it's "Claimed he raised £1000 for a cancer charity but only raised £972" we'll know who that is too.

New idea. Next time we publish a report on a politician, I’ll keep the politician’s name blanked out for a week, and let everyone take positions before they find out who it is.

@SubToTWFC Sonia said bringing on Lucy Bronze was to counter Keralin... not sure 1) disrupting a CB pairing at 70 mins is ever a good idea and 2) whether LB is a better CB than Buurman at this stage. VB is faster and less error-prone, whatever LB's undoubted warrior qualities.

A lot of the discussion around Chelsea's collapse yesterday seems to revolve around whether the defeat was Bompastor's fault or the player's mentality. But I think it's fairly obvious it was both. It's impossible to deny Bompastor got it wrong with the substitutions late in the game. Chelsea were comfortably the better side for most of the game and the defence kept Khadija Shaw quiet. Bringing Bronze on for Buurman on 70' was a decision that cost Chelsea the game. It's a symptom of Chelsea's overarching injury problems that Bronze was even considered in that position, but there was no indication that Buurman was tired or injured. Especially as Buurman was rested vs Leicester, you would expect she could've easily played another 20 minutes. The attacking changes were just as damaging though. Withdrawing Sam Kerr and Lauren James when Chelsea were on the backfoot was a poor decision. And when Chelsea were chasing a goal late in extra time, the camera repeatedly turned to the attacking stars Chelsea were lacking in that moment. But there also seemed to be a huge mentality problem for Chelsea as well. For all 3 of the goals, there was individual errors and a lack of work ethic. Complacency crept in across the board and this allowed Mary Fowler to pick up the ball on the edge of the box, under no pressure, and find the bottom corner. After the Fowler goal, the momentum completely shifted. City had belief again whilst Chelsea just collapsed. Too many players gave up in the final moments for Chelsea. There just wasn't the same urgency to close down and block City shots or the desire to hold on to the victory. Chelsea looked so vulnerable, despite their winning position. I think the questions around Bompastor are interesting. Her management of certain big matches has to be questioned. Injuries and underperformance are fair excuses for much of this season, but with the 2 legs against Barcelona last year and the capitulation in this fixture, her management of big matches has to come into question. Yesterday was a really good performance from Chelsea for 70 minutes. Then it quickly became one of their toughest results this campaign.
