I’ve always been proud to be an Iranian American immigrant. But to follow Stanford’s new language standards, I would need to call myself an “Iranian US-citizen person-who-immigrated.”  This seems awfully wrong. (Thread)

@buccocapital Rich is amazing but it is very difficult to turn a high-margin, capital-efficient media company into a low-margin, capital-needy (if software-aided) real estate + construction company.

@bgurley I love this phrase "immature on revenue." Another way of saying this is that this wave of SPACs is not IPO 2.0, but Series C 2.0

Here is my best guess Kyle. SPACs seem to be quite successful with high cap ex high tech companies that are immature on revenue (as you note). Once your competitor heads down this path, you either mimic or risk irrelevancy. Game on the field.

1/ Interesting thing happening in the LIDAR industry right now. 5+ companies will soon or have SPAC'd. Their value is based on *projected* revenue that comes from *entirely overlapping* potential customers, with very little discount applied to future projections. Is this bad?

@DavidSacks A better solution would be to require both (1) accrual accounting (believe it or not, state budgeting is done on a cash basis so future pension benefits "cost" nothing until they are paid) and (2) a reasonable assumption for future pension fund returns.

The ballot initiative we actually need in California: “The annual growth in spending on public employees shall not exceed the rate of growth in the state’s GDP plus inflation.” forbes.com/sites/adamandr…

I wish you could set a meter on people's tweets. As in: I'm happy to follow X, but I only want to see the best Y tweets from X per day.
